Do you have hard water? If so, the water valve could be plugged up and underfilling the machine.

 

Let the dishwasher fill and stop the machine once it begins washing. Wait a minute or two to let the water completely drain and snap up a picture of the water level. We'll be able to help determine if it's underfilling.

Just to say, interpret that to mean for the pumped water to drain out of the spray arms so the visual in bottom of the tub is the full filled level.

Dishwashers typically fill properly on a range of water pressure between 20 and 120 psi.

Out of curiosity

How good are Miele dishwashers? Are they as good as Bosch? Are they even worth buying one over any Whirlpool made dishwasher?

Does anyone know how to remove the yellowing of the tub? I've noticed that a lot of the older Whirlpool Ultra Wash units in my area --- have iron staining, or yellow tubs. I'm just curious if there are ways to clean this up, so they can be kept in utilization.

Iron Out. Run an empty dishwasher with Iron Out in both dispensers and use the longest wash cycles selecting all heat options.

 

Periodically using a detergent that contains bleach will help with some stains.

How good are Miele dishwashers? Are they as good as Bosch?

We've never owned a Bosch, but I did take a "dead" 800 series Miele and put a new circ pump in it... used it for a number of years until the TOL one from the Miele showroom became available at a BOL "standard DW" price. It replaced a KA/Hobart KDS 18 or 19 that was dying. We've lost touch with the 800 machine (863?) but it went to a good home and I wouldn't be surprised if it's still running.

Also had a 2000 series that I did something to (minor) and had that for several years before the commercial Miele from the showroom became available... again at a BOL price. The 2000 is still running in our cousin's house.

The 800 series was probably 15-16 years old when I got it and the 2k was about 8-10 years old.

Miele machines like to be used, and like to be maintained (clean out the filter screens, etc.).

I can't speak for the new generation with the auto detergent feed as that was coming out just as Miele and I parted ways.
