I need some help identifying a vintage song

Folks, this afternoon I'm watching Die Hard and I listened to this song right on the very beginning of the movie.

I tried to use SoundHound to identify it but the app couldn't recognize the song.

Does anybody know the name or who sings it in a way that I can find the song online?

Thomas you scare me sometimes....I expected a mind twister and a throw back from 'Name That Tune'...with one a few notes to go by....

first two seconds claimed that song....and then the first line of the song....which you could have typed into Youtube, and surprise, there is the song....

in any case, thought you might need the lyrics too.....

Well, I liked the song a lot... Then I started looking for other versions.

I liked the Joe Cocker "remake" better than the original.
