I had my new set delivered on Labor Day and was not happy with the washer. The agitation is very weak and it only spun about 1 to 2 minutes between the main wash and rinse cycles. I really do believe this washer is defective. BestBuy is delivering a replacement on Saturday.

The set looks amazing, and the dryer is wonderful. I just hope the replacement washer washes as good as my old LG topload washer did. If not, I am going to have to have them returned and get something else.

Mike

I just don't like those impeller washers. I've watched videos on them and they look like practical jokes. Give me an agitator or a front-loader any day. I hope you are happy with the replacement, nothing more aggravating than having a washer out of commission.

I dislike Impeller Washers

I have never seen any of this variety of agitation, that impressed me. At best the turnover is slow and lame. I always watch the vids, that you guys post, and have not seen one that I was impressed with. I have to agree that either a conventional top loader, or a FL, seems to have much more obvious cleaning action. But I will say, that I could be proved wrong, and I do try to keep a open mind. I think secretly, I want to be impressed by one.

not today boy...

I doubt I'd be interested in washers if THIS was what I saw, heard(Mommy!) at three years old.

It's somewhat shaped like our '56 Whirlpool, but has all the charm of a robot with grinding gears.

Our current SQ AWN542 is three years old, sounds wonderfull, washes well in 30 minutes, doesn't use much more water than this LG,and I'm SURE it will be more reliable.

I hope you enjoy many years use from the LG. I find this and all impeller machines operationally repulsive.

Yes,I'll be 61 tomorrow,so I don't hold much ''stead'' in new machines that sound like they're working against themselves.

I'll say it, right out loud, I want to be impressed, too.  :-)

I've had a chance to use a Whirlpool Cabrio (direct drive motor) and was less than impressed with the plastic impeller at first, but once I bought a new one free of nicks and scratches, it worked pretty well.  The rinsing routine didn't make me overly happy on all but the sheets/bedding cycle.

I've seen a shiny new Samsung with the plastic popcorn bowl scrub sink and even on the quick or express cycle, it had 5 bath rugs/mats swirling around pretty good and I was impressed with the water level.   Now that said, full loads of clothing, towels, etc. do look pretty scary on YouTube sometimes.  They sound like they're grinding at the bottom.  Civilization has progressed from beating the clothes on a rock to using a circle of rocks to beat the clothes.  I'll keep an eye on Craigslist for one, much less commitment of money and if you can buy and later sell, the fun has cost you nothing but a little schlepping machines around.  I'm keeping my eye out for an LG or Kenmore with the controls on the front of the top panel, I like the vintage-y look to the styling.

I knew someone who bought the GE impeller (LG) washer and dryer and was very disappointed in the performance of both machines.  The dryer was a bad vent mostly, so I think it would be fine.  The washer left powdered Tide on dark cloths and tangled bedding pretty badly.  I would imagine this could happen with most of these impeller machines fairly often.  One video of a newer Cabrio washing a king sized comforter couldn't turn over or even move the item even once during the whole cycle.  A front-load washer would be best for these enormous items but a commercial washer of 30-50 pound class will always wash better than any home washer, thus it has always been.

I have had three different impeller washers. I purchased the Kenmore Elite Oasis washer when they first came out. I sent that one back because the power button didn't work properly; but it did wash ok. I've had the Avanti compact washer that washed really well. Of course, I could control the water level. And I purchased the LG topload washer when it first came out. I didn't think it would clean well, but it did. My clothes are sweaty and smelly when I take them off because I perspire a lot. The LG cleaned them very well. I did use the Water Plus option a lot. If I didn't let LG do the recall work on that washer, I would still have it.

As for the video posted above, the first LG washer I had agitated much stronger than this one. When I had a big load, the impeller really sloshed them around. Maybe LG slowed the agitation for gentler washing of clothes.

Washer and Dryer Tones

Is it extremely possible to record and upload a video showing what the tones on your new LG washer and dryer sound like?

I have a WT1101CW. It has the same tub but top,not rear or front controls. It always uses plenty of water and gets dirty clothes really clean and fresh smelling. It's the best top loading washer I ever had. Hands down. It does bulky runners, bedspreads, huge loads of towels, and the all stainless steel tub spins a nice 1100 rams. I've been using mine on a regular basis and have had not one issue with it. I have yet to overload it. No oversudsing either.

WAT?????????

Never seen that much lint on a lint screen at one time in my life even with brand new items UNLESS someone did multiple loads without cleaning it (which I never do) but I have seen this in the past at other peoples homes.

I remember back when I had my whirlpool shredmore TL washer and dryer back in the early 2000s before I got my Duet pair, reading forums people would say there is less lint using a FL washer so when I did my first load I made sure to notice this and it was true. Not a lot less, but at least noticeably less. That's crazy amounts of lint!

Wow 2 hrs 14 min to dry a load of towels. I do those size loads all the time in my Duets and it never takes more than an 1 hour to dry a load, although mine is gas.
How long is the run for your vent to the outdoors?

Jon

No,that was from one load. The screen was clean before he started the dryer. I'm guessing the huge amount of lint comes from the scrubbing in the washer and the long drying cycle (due to the clogged filter).
