GE Filter Flo; KA Superba portable in avocado greeen; Frigidaire bottom-mount refrigerator/freezer

Speak up~!

What do you wish you had that you sold, replaced, gave away, etc.

P.S. Try to keep in on a somewhat decent level(TeeHee)

I wish I had my mom's Kenmore 800 and the RCA CTC-48 TV that begged them to keep for me so I can fix when I grow up. But she sent them to the Krusher. :-(

I wish I hadn't sold my 1964 VW Beetle. It was almost like new. I had it running the way I wanted to. The brakes actually worked LOL. But good thing because it would've floated away with Katrina.

A loaded question gets a loaded answer:

Are you kidding? You're going to die--
1. My Uncle and his partners' Frigidaire WO-65
2. Our Frigidaire 19 58 Custom Imperial.
3. My family's GE Filter-flo Set, # WA750W, DE720W
4. Our downstairs neighbors GE Filter-flo's: WA 750V (dream machine) and non-matching DE520V dryer.
5. Our 1960 GE solid-tub Filter-flo WA650T (model # ???)
6. My grandmother's 1963 GE Filter-flo WA840X(model #???)
7. Our 1961 GE pull-out pink tub TOL dishwasher
8. Our 1962 GE Built-in double ovens with freakin' ROTISSERIE.
9. Our 1971 GE Built-in double ovens in coppertone with built-in freakin' ROTISSERIE
10. Our 1971 GE Filter-flo TOL washer and dryer ( only because the washer was the ONLY GE built after 1965 that had both automatic solenoid operated Bleach and Fabric Softener dispensers).
11. Our 1964 BOL Blue-tub Front-load dishwasher.
12. Our 1973 KitchenAid KDC-17A BOL dishwasher.
13. Our 1974 GM Frigidaire 30" Range with the thick burners in coppertone!!
14. Our 1954 GE 40" double-oven streamlined range with burner buttons that each lit up in different colors that my mother and father sent to the DUMP because they didn't want to repair one burner as per the asshole repairman.
15. Our 1971 BOL GE Filter-flo washer WWA-5400 (I believe) that I retrofitted with a black helix agitator that they also sent to the dump ( no great loss there).
16. My KitchenAid Custom Top-Loading portable from my first apartment.
17. My Frigidaire 1968 solid tub WC washer from my first apartment.

And finally, that KitchenAid Patrician dishwasher #KDP-18 and the 1978 Maytag DE308 dryer from my Parent's last house that I'm going to try to save.

My Secret Shame...

When I bought my first house, It had an absolutely gorgeous 40" yellow Frigidaire range with the burner controls that had the vertical bars that went up and down according to the setting.

Unfortunately, the thermostatic burner didn't work (big suprise) and the oven needed a new thermostat. After being told by the "mainstream" appliance repair places that it couldn't be fixed, I reluctantly sent it to the crusher. This was before I had found automaticwasher.org, and didn't know any better.

It's all too typical of the "repair" services in Seattle. With all the money in town, they've forgotten how to repair anything, and are now basically salesmen for new stuff. When you ask them to look at something older, they get insulted and defensive.

Let's have more testimonials about how finding the truth at
www.automaticwasher.org has brought you new lives; say Hallelujah! Come forward, Brothers and Sisters. Don't be embarrassed to tell of the salvation you have found here for your treasures from the ancient of days, miraculously giving them renewed life that brings you joy. Testify to what finding others who share your joys in life has meant after constantly being told that your interests are crazy, that you should not be interested in things that are meant for women to use and that you are the only person in the world with this goofy, sissy interest.

I wish I had not let myself be talked into getting rid of my 1957 RCA Whirlpool Washer-Dryer Combination, my 1968 Philco Hi Speed Duomatic Washer-Dryer Combination and our 1966 Westinghouse side-swing door Laundromat. My parents were not supportive and offered no storage space in our basement for my appliances.

I wish I had not rented the housewares, some of which were broken or stolen, to Barry Levinson's company that was filming Avalon in Baltimore. They were insured, but money could not replace them.

Most of the rest, I have kept.

Wish I still had my:

1976 1-18 set. I sold them with my house in 1980 and thought I'd just go out and get another set when I moved. Duhhhhh!

1971 6' long, Magnavox Spanish console stereo

mom's turquoise 40" Flair range, ala Bewitched

1961 Westinghouse impeller roll out drawer dishwasher

1964 Round-Tube Curtis-Mathes 21" Color TV...Really an RCA CTC-46 inside or something like that

Hoover spin-drying washer

1986 Norge washer and Dryer

K2R Spray spot remover

Gold Hoover convertible

I was given a gold Hoover Convertible by my school's principal in 1976. Thank you Sister Francelle. (She also gave me a Westinghouse Color TV with a bad CRT which I miss too) I fixed the vacuum and used it for 10 years. Didn't know that it was a rare piece. Went to a garage sale when it was replaced by a Dial-A-Matic with power-drive that I rebuilt.

W-a-a-a-a-a-a-h! I'm already starting to cry over....

1) My beautiful, yellow 1959 Lady Kenmore set. The washer had never been used (although the dryer had). With suds saver, even.

2) A late 70's Frigidaire 1-18.

I miss you both and if I had you back, I'd never get rid of you again!!

A collection of Hoover Keymatics in various stages of disrepair, and one in immaculate condition. As we were about to move house and had a shed full of "junk" I decided they should go. I had no trouble finding them, shouldn't have any difficulty getting one or two later. I have found only one since and its motor is missing...

Also the family Frigidaire washing machine from the late 60s or early 70s - I think it might have been one of the last Aussie Frigidaire washers. I thought it was dreadful when we had it, it was very unreliable but now (thanks to this group) I think I would appreciate it more.

And a Lightburn twin tub washer with the paddle wash action and super fast spinner. Another one I thought would be easily replaced, I had driven past dozens but since giving mine away I haven't seen one.

chris.

Braun Mixer,food processor ,blender

I wished I had kept my Braun "multipurpose" machine-was on the same idea as the Oster Kitchen Center-but the Braun machine was better quality. The Braun machine Had a Mixer bowel and two sets of beaters-made the best mashed potatoes of any machine.A food processor bowel and chopping blade-and two disc blades-one for shredding-the other for slicing and one disc blade that had an adjustable blade to make different thickness slices. The last attachment it had was a blender-chopper.the blender held a small amount-less than a quart-but worked well.As a chopper it was great--now why did I get rid of it-because of a move-now I feel there would have been room for the machine-haven't found another.I am still kicking myself when I think of it.also with the chopper blender was a ice crush blade. You could alsdo use it for frozen drinks.the blender blade was VERY SHARP-I would imagine ice would be like rocks to it.The ice blade had blunt serrated edges. It was a quite clever machine-two PTO's on the base-low speed for the mixer, processor, high for the blender-chopper-and the motor had variable speeds-only downside was the motor base was lightweight plastic-wished it was metal.Metal would give it weight and heft-you had to put a paw on the top of the machine while mixing dough or mashing potatoes so it wouldn't dance across the table or counter.Oh yes-there was a dough hook blade for the mixer.

I sure wish I still had my......................

Inocence (sp?) and sense of hope and sanity, in general.

But I'd settle for momma's '73 Roto-rack kenmore DW. and her Maytag A206 center-dial washer and DG306 center-dial halo-of-heat Maytag dryer. bBOth in basic boring classic WHITE.

She had a cool Norge washer there, briefly too.

But the biggest lament is glorious 1955 gas stoves that went right to the Krusher in 1972. *SIGH* Today they'd be worth a mint.

too funny....

Togs, I saw you were the last one to post on this thread, so I immediately had the idea to say something smart like "Togs, I thought you'd miss your sanity most of all!"---but you beat me to it! Have a great day, T.Switch!
