Well Johnb300m found out the same. His GE had a couple of significant problems and he ended up replacing his with a Kitchenaid. [this post was last edited: 4/23/2020-13:43]

Pierre,

I'm sorry I can't comment on your dishwasher issue but I like your kitchen. The dishwasher looks great too bad it doesn't work very well.

We had purchased almost that same model Ge Profile here in Florida in 2011, we replaced it 5 years later due to when it ran it would smell like something was burning in it. We did not find anything on the heating coil or underneath. We have a whole GE profile kitchen, Stove, Fridge, Microwave and DW. My wife did not trust it so we replaced it with a Bosch 800 series and are very satisfied. We had a Bosch in our house in Pennsylvania.

Yeah I had the same GE profile dw from 2015.
The racks started rusting and an intermittent leak formed from the main pump after two years.
Performance was always spotty. Terrible washing in the upper rack corners.
Seam splits in the lower wash arm I had to glue.
Too bad cuz it’s a solidly built chassis. Just with substandard parts.

Went with a KitchenAid after that.
Much much better machine. And far more consistently clean dishes.

I JUST moved last week. House has a Maytag dw, aprox. 4yrs old.
Excellent performer as well. Parts look brand new still.

Wet dishes at end of cycle

Hi Pierre, just an idea, have you checked to see if your rinse aid dispenser is empty? Recently I was noticing my dishwasher was leaving the dishes wet, finally after a couple of weeks I finally thought about checking rinse aid dispenser, it was empty, now after refilling it the dishes are more dry. Regarding dishes not clean try running hot faucet at sink before starting dishwasher and maybe try a different detergent, just now I am using Finish Quantum and Quantum Max and sometimes my old container of Finish Powerball. J'espere ca amelieore.

Yes, use a rinse agent, or

a detergent that has it in it. Also clean the filter(s) in the tub bottom.
If items are washed with stickers on them, the glue and sticky paper can bind to the internal pump impellers, and pulverizer assy. I saw a youtube video of a GE Profile that wasn't washing well. The owner took these aprt, leaned them, and it washed like new! GE makes a good dishwasher. I have one, and like it.

what would be the best rinse aid for the ge profile dishwash

what would be the best dishwasher detergent to use that do not cause suds in the dishwasher and rinse aid for better drying right now using powder finish and no rinse aid because rinse aid cause to much suds inside the dishwasher? and also thank you to everyone for there answers

Best detergents and rinse agent

I recently bought for the first time, Nature Clean brand rinse agent, made by Frank T Ross & Sons in Markham Ontario, it is a clear liquid, just wipe up any spills, I had to wipe up a bit, awkward to fill, when refilling dispenser and you should be ok regarding oversudsing. For detergent might need some experimentation to find which works best with your water but I think premium tablets or pods which contain enzymes work better than powder detergents in modern dishwashers. I have not used the Cascade pods but some people find they clean good for them, I use Finish Quantum and Quantum Max as a first choice especially if on sale, and yes as advised above check to see if your filter is clean. If you are avoiding shopping now during Covid 19 maybe try using more of your powder detergent if you are not filling it full.

I've always used either the Cascade pods, Quantuum pods and now using Costco Kirkland pods. they are very good..
You should always use rinse agent,, perhaps you have the rinse agent setting too high,, you should be able to adjust it to release less agent.

I HAVE A 2019 GE

I don't pre-rinse dishes, and yet they come out spotless. I do use Cascade Platinum Pods, and finish rinse aid. Its very quiet, dries well, and never have to rewash dishes. My dishes often sit for 2-3 days before running it.
Hugs,
David

The German consumer magazine previously did a test of dishwasher rinse aids. They came to the conclusion that the better rinse aids were the ones with more surfactants in them.

As examples in my own experience:

I recently tried Aldi rinse aid (around about 5% surfactant): results weren't spotless, although the dishes were dry.

Reckitt-Benckiser Finish (5-15% surfactant): pretty good results.

Procter & Gamble Fairy (15-30% surfactant): good results.

johnm300m

how many months years would you give my mom and i before having to replace or have a service tech check the dishwasher depending on the option before my mom and i have to replace it just a technical question? because 1 night started the dishwasher was full dishwasher shutdown by itself at start of cycle restarted the cycle so went true the whole cycle i think the dishwasher my mom and i bough end of december 2016 start of 2017 is a lemon but no service tech so hard to say

Hi Pierre,
It's really hard to say.
It could limp around for years, or just fail out in a few months.

My bottom rack was rusting under all the tines, and it probably would've gone for a few more years till everything got rusty to the point of falling apart.
It's hard to say if my little motor leak would've vanished on its own, or gushed all over the motor in time.
My parents have a 5yr old GE dishwasher of this style, and theirs held up better than mine.
Theirs does have an intermittent motor squeal. But no leaks. I've checked already.

If it's having electrical issues with cycles running now, I think that might only get worse in time.
In what amount of time? I have no idea

I would just suggest saving up now for a repair or replacement.
