My girlfriend has a matched set of Maytag center dials. (Electric dryer) She rents out her house in Toledo, OH to her younger sister. Much to our mutual dismay, the sister (who despises all things old) had a problem with the washer and replaced it with a new washer. (Some kind of T/L Amana? Never even noticed it in a store)
She didn't tell us until the old washer was going to be thoughtfully recycled (i.e. cashed in for scrap) by whomever was delivering the new machine. We told her "Oh Haailll NO!"
It's obvious what happened. The left-front leg rusted out and the machine dropped onto its pulleys. The mind-blowing part is that this machine has been in a bone-dry, clean environment for decades. 1st floor concrete slab covered with old-school linoleum tile. I can't see any reason for the rust, (and nothing shows from the outside) but there it is.
