This is the largest room in my basement that I would like to remodel in a laundry room/computer room/typewriter room. The room is quit large and has a total of 15 outlets in it. The lighting isn't the best either.

First I want to remove the sink and cupboards and put the washer and dryer here. The upper cupboards will have to go because of the heighth of the washer and dryer.

Same room different angle. The little room to the right has a toilet and electric water heater in it. The water heater is for the kitchen sink up stairs and I'm guessing the sink in the basement. The upstairs bathrooms and the washer have their own gas water heater. The toilet in that bathroom is worse than any public bathroom I've ever seen. It's beyond cleaning!

When we first moved in we had problems with the drains, and still do on occasion of water from the kitchen sink coming up in the basement sink and the basement toilet there is alot of grease and other gunk on that toilet. I don't think it has been used in a long time, don't even know it works or not here's a picture of it. I keep the door shut most of the time, and really don't need to go in there except for water heater, and that's not very often.

What could I use to clean it?

I going to get one at the Habitate of Humanity resale store some day. It would be nice to have a toilet down there when I'm doing laundry instead of having to run stairs all the time.

I don't understand the need for all those electric outlets down there. There's 14 in the main room and one in the bathroom. They all work too, tried them out after we moved in. There is also a garage down there, but it would have to be a very small car. The stairs are solid concrete. The whole house fascinates me actually. Here's a picture from the outside.

Here a picture of the house from the outside. The landlord is supposed to be getting us new windows this year and have the place sided.

This section is my bedroom and runs the whole length of the of the house, complete with a bathroom with two sinks with matching medicine cabinets and toilet. Sinks and toilet are turquoise.

That old toilet can be cleaned. If there's a lot of hard water deposits, it just takes much more elbow grease to cut through it all. Get the biggest tub of Lime-away you can find, open every window in the house, and have at it :)

"Sinks and toilet are turquoise."

Pics are a must!

No Offense....

But you live in that house and have a bathroom that looks like that? My OCD would have me in seizures just knowing something that hideous lurked on my property! I'm with Gansky.....toilets are cheap! Get a whole set at Lowe's for $59...

Turquoise Toilet and Sinks

I really doesn't bother me that much. It's in the basement, with the door closed. I guess out of site out of mind.

As per qsd-dan's request. The turquoise sinks and toilets. The hunter green toilet seat was not my idea, it was like that when I moved in.

Sink 1

The matching medicine cabinets are angled in the corners above each sink, and have florescent lights on each side of the mirrors. In the back of each cabinet there is a slot for razor blade disposal. The shelves in the cabinets are glass.

man, I like...

That would be a great place to restore, looks like an old late 1890s house on the outside with 50s updating done on the inside. The whole thing could be beautiful, imagine what painting the outside alone would do.

Im in agreement with the other guys on that toilet issue, just get a new one, spend the bucks or get it and have the lanlord reimburse you. Or just buy one for you own sanity.I mean cmon 59 bucks isnt the end of the world anymore.

you should really see if your lanlord would sell it. Obviously hes only milking it for all its worth and then gonna let it go, or hes a cheapskate. I hope you dont pay over 450 a month in rent for that. Restored tho I bet even in Iowa you could fetch 750 to 800 for it tho I dont know exactly where your town is. Personally I just love the house. Great Potential. Wish I could get my hands on something like that.

neh, Ill retrac my statement about it being 1890s, on second look iy may be a house as modern as the 30s, Stilla great house with great features. Arts and crafts period decor would do wonders for it.It would be comfy looking too as far back as the victorian period, really a lot you could do there.
