...I'm a big Motown fan. I was looking at videos of the Supremes. I was watching 'Baby Love' by the Supremes when I stumbled across this song in the 'related videos' section. It's by an obscure British band from the 70's. At least I've never heard of them.

Anyway, it's not the best song I've ever heard, but it's tune is very catchy and quite addicting. No wonder this was a big hit for them in Europe. It's also got some killer chords in it which add to the appeal.

Take a look.

The Rubettes came to fame on the coattails of the British "Glam Rock" scene around '73-74. Light pop category. Although they sold a lot of singles for a year or two, they are generally considered a 'second tier' glam band.

Like many other bands from that era, they're probably making the rounds on the European cabaret/oldies circuit.

This song came out in '74 when I was a senior in high school. One of the rock stations played it a few times, and I immediately liked it. Sounded kinda 1950's to me. Found it on Limewire and it's now on my MP3 Walkman.

This song was also used in a commercial for French AIDS Awareness (both gay and straight versions), and the message at the end was in both French and English.

The commercial is more mature than what you'll find here in the US, but I think it gets the message across.
