It's hot and been hot so it's time for some easy ice cream.  I've made a lot of different kinds over the years but this is the simplest and quickest and should work well with whatever equipment you have.

combine:

4c of 1/2 and 1/2 or milk  I used 2%

2T. Vanilla

1 can Sweetened condensed milk.

Mix and put in ice cream freezer.

I use my favorite toy:

The Elite

Wow, Matt I am jealous. I bought a Simac ice cream maker at a thrift store and it didn't work. I could eat soft homemade ice cream for every meal. It looks wonderful.

Mmmmm, nothing says summer like homemade ice cream!   Using an automatic freezer still seems like cheating to me.  From the time I was 3 or 4 the rule was that anyone who wanted to eat the ice cream had to take a turn at the crank.  Plus, there was the delicious fun of dropping some of that super cold ice down someone's pants!

Kelly, I got the Simac in the late 80's in a previous life in Department Store Management.  I believe it originally sold for $450 back then, I was able to pick up the display for I think about $80.  I don't use it a lot due to the calorie count but every now and then.
Unfortunately the bowl release lever, white metal, broke a few years ago, so it's a bit difficult to insert and remove the bowl.  But it's still fun to use.....
