This will be esay for some of you Im sure. I came across this in my moms pictures. I have no idea what the little boy is in there for and mine is not to ask why. As a true AW guy my question is what type of machine is it? Can anyone see enough of it to tell me?

GE

That is a GE set probably from 1970 or so. It has the plastic lid clips rather than the metal hinges for the lid so that has to put it beyond 1969. I'm guessing it's also probably a lower end model since there is a lower panel and no bleach dispenser. That is probably the v-16 straight vane agitator in there too. Hope that is at least somewhat accurate and helpful!

Not only is Jon probably right on the money but the little d

You must have done a double take, Jon when you saw this. Please post your baby pic here again, so we can compare the cuties.

Yes, it sure looks like a GE lid to me there, and the avocado color is an excellent indicator of the vintage.

I see now that sdlee is younger in his photo than you are, m

you guys could be twins. Wonder if you two are close in age?

Thanks, Jon

haha

....you guys can be so funny. Ok well age wise that kid in the washer was born in 1977...ooooh the mystery deepens

Our washroom was in the garage and the garage was really an old house behind our family home that my dad started to gut.

oddly there was a light fixture above the washer that never went off and one fine night in Augast it burnt most of the place down,Even Oddly-er that little room you see in the picture survived as the fire went the other direction.

The washer and dryer were pulled from the debris, soot cleaned off a repairman looked it over and voila my mother used it another 15 years.

I cant remember what happened to the dryer over the years but the washer now stands in a garage at a friends house of my dads and they still wash things in it that are too dirty for thier regular washer. My mother was going on washer number five when she died and said she wish she would have never let go of the old Green Gila Monster.

Youre probably right about the dates. I actually think my mom got it used too

ps, i just thought of something...

that prolly is a Michelobe bottle and if i had enough of them Id be tempted Jon to challenge you to updated poses by these machines. One with a grown up kid with his feet in the washer and one with you and your.........no, never mind.;0
