Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

They sure are beautiful, congrats!!

I thought all TOL center dial dryers after 63 had electronic moisture control and were no longer timed dry. I guess that feature was left to the push buttons models only.

A tip about the washer; the agitator is a 2 piece design (the design Maytag should have continued to use). There are 3 screws that connect the base of the agitator to the agitator itself. Most people were never very adamant about cleaning the lint filter and you'll find gobs of buildup and hard water deposits in there once they're separated. You'll never be pleased with its true cleaning and filtering abilities until that area is completely unclogged and cleaned out.

Thanks for the info qsd...... these screws you are talking about.....are they accessible before or after the agitator is removed?

swestoyz----You are correct about the agitator it is the original bakelite......

A little history about these machines......When I contacted the seller she saw that i was from Festus, Mo.and she replied to my e-mail....The seller grew up in Festus and went to high school here. My dad was the assistant principal at the high school and she thought she recognized the name. The machines actually belonged to her grandmother, who lived in Crystal City (Festus/Crystal City are known as the "twin cities"). So I guess you could say that the "tags" have made it back home. The seller' grandma bought this set in a town called Desoto Mo which is about 15 miles southwest of Festus. The original sticker from the appliance store is still on the top of the machine and is in perfect shape. I think it is great when one can find out a little bit of the history of anything they find. Come to find out my wife graduated with the seller' uncle. And to think these we way out in the middle of nowhere. (actually there were in north central Illinois and this ity bitty town is smack dab in the middle of corn fields) lol......When I got into town I met the seller and her husband and I have to say they were super nice people. We drove out through the corn fields about 15 miles to a storage shed where there were stored. Thanks Stephanie! (the seller) for preserving these awesome machines.

After the agitator is removed. Once the agitator is removed, flip it upside down and they'll be staring at you. Once the screws are removed, GENTLY separate the bottom half from the agitator. I got a little carried away with mine and cracked the base in the process :(

Ok, cool! will check it out once I get the agitator removed. The lint filter actually was pretty clean....I'm thinking that since the grandma took such good care of these machines that she also took the time to keep the lint filter cleaned out. Hopefully that's that case........Thanks for the info!
