Im sold on a NEW...Well too me...Stove

Most of you who know me know I have a phobia about most anything new, I generally just don't like newer things, so when Jeff Masoner and John LeFever both said they had found me the ideal stove, ...a 1972 Westinghouse...I was a little skeptical,,Jeff got it and John tuned it up, well, its now in my kitchen, and I must admit, It bakes as well as the old Norge did, and that's saying something!! it is well built, and its the very best insulated oven I ever saw, I baked a pound cake in it and after a hour and a half at 325, the outside was completely cool, I couldn't believe it, also, now for the first time, I have not only a self cleaning oven, but a thermostatic top unit that works perfectly!!I will try to post some pictures when I can, my camera expired so I will see if I can figure out how to download them from Donalds phone, ll I can say is this is the BEST stove I have ever used...and I have used a bunch of them!!!!The old Norge is now at home in Jeffs stove museum, thanks to both of them for looking out after me.

I don't consider anything vintage unless its about 1960 or before, so 72 is almost new to me..LOL!

Sounds great. 1972 does seem like a sweet spot for electric ranges, if you can find a good one that isn't avocado or harvest gold! I despise the modern smoothtops, and the units they still make with traditional coils look low end.

Hi, just saw your post. Congrats on the new range!!

Just thought I'd show you a pic of my grandma's range. It's a 1967 Frigidaire Custom Deluxe. I've inherited the apartment it's in and it isn't going anywhere. So many great things have been cooked on it

Very nice Frigidaire! How wide is it? I'm guessing it is an apartment size, but it's hard to tell from the photo.

Here is the thread about the 1972 GE J370 range I found for Sandy aka danemodsandy back in 2014.  I also believe that 1972 was a great year for stoves, especially electric models.
