Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

"picking up machines left and right"

i try not to get involved in any of the personal or political discussions on the site, keeping it about washers and dishwashers for me. but i have to comment on the above mentioned comment about the person of interest here "picking up machines left and right".

i don't see that as odd at all, or suspicious. i've only been a member myself for about a year and now have about 33 dishwashers and those 6 rollermatics i was so fortunate to find thru the help of people on this site. not to mention an assortment of other dryers, washers, and a flair stove. all thanks to my hard work, some extra money i had and the help of the people here on automaticwasher.org.

so i have definately been picking up machines left and right this year and if that's looked at as odd or questionable, oh well! some of us go at it faster than others. i had the time, some extra money, and the help i needed to get a pretty good collection going in a short time period. i'm not saying this to brag, it's just a fact. summer 2009 was my "appliance collecting" summer! i enjoyed every minute of it! i enjoyed all the road trips and all the fun people i have met!

i don't think it should matter how many machines a member has or how quick he got them. it doesn't to me at least. i just want to see pics and videos when they do get them!

Keven, yes we are opposite on a lot of issues and the same on others (gun control comes to mind). I have been trying to be as civil as possible as well. If you notice I rarely post on the political stuff anymore. Feelings get hurt too often and it doesn't do this site any justice. I am just a collecting nut and packrat and come here to see the neat finds and maybe offer help if I can.

To respond to a few of your other points: you stated about having a distaste for those who you disagree with. I have no distaste for anyone or anyone's viewpoint. You know what opinions are like (a$$holes, we all have them and they all stink). I think that's what makes this site & collecting in general fun and exciting. What a boring world/website we would have if we all thought alike.

Your last quote "especially when it has turned out one of us was right (THAT WOULD BE ME)after all and the other wrong (THAT WOULD BE YOU!). JUST KIDDING LOL

You Know What...

...Makes me kind of sad here?

Chad has been around at least two of our members, who both say he seems to be a decent guy at heart. If it weren't for the histrionics, the manic posting style and the deception of sneaking back here after a ban, Chad probably would be as welcome a member as any.

Chad, if you're reading this, try settling your issues, and talking with Robert sometime after you've done that (though you should expect to be met with some skepticism there, mind you). That would be the best way to get what you want, which as I see it is to feel wanted, part of a circle of friends.

You do not have to have the most dramatic life anyone ever heard of to be noticed. Who you are is enough, and if you ever get to the point of understanding that, I suspect life will hand you more of what you want than you ever dreamed possible.

Todd,

It's funny, but you and PeterH., together with Hunter (who is not necessarily to be assigned a political direction) have done more to make me really think about my views through your courtesy than all those who whale on me will ever achieve.

Actually what lies has he been caught in this time, if that's the case.Just curious?

He was never granted permission for there to be a "This Time" in the first place as two years ago I told him he was banned from posting on this website ever again. When I ban someone and then they sneak back in under a new name or as in this case names that is a HUGE lie in my book. When I tell someone they are banned forever I mean it. Period.

Wasn't he known as EXPLODER321 before? I thought that name was appropriate for him as he kind of blew into the website and was pretty obnoxious in the way he worded his posts.

I thought he was originally from Georgia or the Carolinas. Remember the purchase of the condo, then the house, then no job, etc? I guess he relocated out west.

Anyway, I wish the tortured soul the best and may he realize that he needs therapy to make him realize that you can be a normal person and still count too.

Is there a narcissist in the house?

Gee, what a surprise! The world abounds with these characters and the biggest revelation is no one knows what kind a havoc they wreak until one has been around or involved in a relationship with one of these people. My ex-partner was this way--very charming, selfless, and loving early on in the relationship, then downright scary in the end with his vicious, possessive, and abusive behavior. What I failed to recognize (and what most people also fail to recognize) is that these people need the undivided attention of anyone who has paid them heed in some way. On the outside, they appear very amiable and successful, but on the inside, they are so deprived and hungry for acceptance that the minute someone turns their attention to something or someone else--even if it's for a very short while--they feel betrayed and insulted. All too often their overreactions result in mental and/or physical abuse, which can scar friends and partners for years or for the rest of their lives.

I couldn't visit or get together with any of my male friends for fear he would find out. If he did, he'd leave countless voicemail messages on my cell and home phones, accusing me of cheating on him and then threatening to do something stupid like kill himself. I always took the threats seriously and, in hindsight, I guess I was the gullible one. He played on my emotions each and every time and would always make it my fault. But, I loved him so much that I'd do what I could to make things right and keep the relationship intact. In the end, I caught him in his pathological lying and I told him it was over. I've since found out that his other fly-by-night boyfriends didn't handle the situation as judiciously because one tried to choke him to death with his bare hands and another threatened to beat the crap out him if he was ever sighted around town again.

I guess the moral of the story is always be on the watch for narcissists and pathological liars. But, even the most vigilant can be duped. Robert, thank you for your unwavering patience and containing the situation at a time you felt it most appropriate. My heart goes out to Chad because more often than not, people like him will eventually self-destruct. And there is no way to cure their mental illness short of intervention by God himself.

I Understand

The way he is being badmouthed no wonder he came back as an alias. Its a strange thing, when someone posts that they are bi-polar or whatever, the folks just melt with kindness and here is someone who has been judged and found guilty of perhaps a slight mental problem, everyone is out to hang him.Truly this cant be. Bobby

> we no longer have to look at that downright spooky avatar he was using. <

Glad to hear I wasn't the only one who was royally creeped out by that image.

I hope Cub eventually learns the value of honesty, or at least the value of the OFF button on his computer. The internet has created countless millions of young sociopaths, devoid of any friends or anything real in their lives. It's tragic.

Helped People

Dont you think it has also helped many people who were afraid to face folks in person, knowing that they are not alone.Perhaps seeking and finding help that they did not know existed. Thanks Bobby

Actually I think it's that the Internet has created a place for these sociopaths and they live their lives completely on the internet via internet addiction rather than the internet "creating these people"

As an operator of another website, I can vouch that there is a lot of weird and strange behavior out there on the 'net. It seems to attract them.

> Dont you think it has also helped many people who were afraid to face folks in person, knowing that they are not alone. <

Sure, but it's much easier to make virtual friends than real ones, and also much easier to lie to virtual friends than real ones.

In a lot of cases virtual friends are all these kids have, and lying becomes second-nature to them.

very good point, Bobby

The tendency to pile on and really attack people is very much an aspect of life in all forums, tho' it is less so around here than in many, thanks to Robert.

Much of it has to do with the two-dimensional, cut and paste aspect of our online lives.

A lot of it has to do with the fact that in our extremely polarized 'reality-based' world of today, many of us simply would never, ever have any social contact with people who don't fit into our very highly defined contexts of who's acceptable and who's not.

This is threatening to all groups. Every study over the last decades shows that Americans are living in ever more homogeneously stratified areas - the Internet and those family gatherings! are, for many of us, literally the only place we encounter someone who doesn't share our deeply held views on core issues.

Every single person posting here who met Chad has said he was a real person. Fighting some inner demons, I believe one person who hasn't posted said, but warm. I'm not arguing against Robert's position here.

I support Robert 100% in his decisions on this matter.

Chad unfortunately managed to upset a dear friend of mine here deeply. I don't see him piling on, and if anybody was hurt by this, it was he. I don't see Robert piling on, and he surely was hurt the worst of all.

We will continue to have our cliques, the splits left by the Austin incident will never completely heal-over. Hard as it is tho' (well, not for me, we all know I hold no strong opinions) this is also a chance to spend time with people we would otherwise never interact with. That's a good thing.

A great gift from Robert.

Sad Though

This is the only site I have ever talked to people on actually.Im usually very busy and chat rooms and things like that would do nothing for me.Sort of like people watching x-rated videos.Id rather be there than to watch it,so 2D,rather than 3D.One thing we have to remember thank goodness not everyone is the same. Bobby

Hmmmm.
I was the one who he was buying the vacuum for. He sent me pictures of it in his trunk and that was the last I heard of him. He didn't want any money in advance to ship it, which I thought was wierd, now I'm glad I didn't send him any cash. He sent me 8 emails and called me twice, he seems nice enuff. Wonder if the vacuum will ever arrive? I emailed him tonight to see what was up, no response.

I have to say that the Avatar that travlincub321 was using just creeped me out also. This Chad person I never knew. I don't wish to really know the details about what this person did in the past, but RULES ARE RULES. I'm just glad that Robert has not shut the site down. Robert, I'm glad that you are watching out for us, especially when it comes to things that have happened in the past. On a more personal note, I always try to be honest and sincere when posting. Those of you who have seen my machines and projects know that I don't lie. Yes, there are times when I do get a little carried away. If I do offend anyone with my comments and or pictures, please let me know and I will be more careful. I try to stay with mostly washing machines because that is why I joined this site. My personal goal for this site is to focus mostly on commercial FL machines.

I kind of followed this guys posts but since I'm newer I was unaware of anything. I do wish this person the best and pray they will seek out help and healing. I will not however, miss that ugly avatar, some days the sight of it disgusted me...

You're right Allen -

I don't see attacking Chad as exactly supporting Robert.

By the by, if something like an avatar is so disturbing one can not stand it, just tell ABP to block it.

Hey, presto! It's gone.

>we no longer have to look at that downright spooky avatar he was using. <

>Glad to hear I wasn't the only one who was royally creeped out by that image.<

No doubt! I tried to avoid reading his post's, because of that.

Fine job, Detective Robert! Keep up the good work.

I guess it's a good bet that just about everyone was creeped out by Cub's avatar.

Me too, except I am curious about it:

Who is it?

Why is she so manic happy?

What are those huge earrings made from?

Does she shatter mirrors and camera lenses?

Can't Answer...

...The other questions, but those "earrings" were spools of ribbon, the kind used for gift-wrapping. I suspect the photo was some sort of picture taken at a party, and that Chad found it on the Web.

It did look a bit like Betty Garrett ("Hildy" in On the Town) gone barking mad, didn't it?

NSFW The first appearence of

This, um, picture our university's image matching program can find was July 14, 2003, in a Brazilian Blog. Not Safe For Work, to put it mildly, but goodness, some of the other pictures there are pretty good, and some are right out of the same, let's call it, genre.
It's the last pic on the first page, gah...still recovering from the cartoon of the ape or monkey or whatever at the top...
Much higher definition, if you really need an emetic or so...

Sandy,

Thanks soooo much. Now I can clean the coffee off my screen...

Wasn't it C.S. Lewis who said nothing is worse than something that is nearly, but not quite or once was but is no longer human?

I thought it was just me who found that avatar disconcerting until others chimed in.

Speaking of which, I was pleasantly surprised that no-one had used my avatar yet. Took a while to go through everybody's profile to be sure of it.

Here's the Tipoff:

If you'll look at this detail from the photo, the lady's crow's feet are very visible outside the frame of the glasses, but not within it. And those are some industrial-strength crow's feet.

Party glasses, trust me.

now, now, there's

no point bringing cocks into it. Some of the members here get aroused over things like that.

(Just teasing Robert, couldn't resist.)
