Last June Robert and I brought my 1933 Maytag to Geoff's as he has the connection for painting. She arrived back this week and Geoff and I put her back together. Noreen joined us for moral support and nice conpany as well as Ellie the Doxie. These machines were nicknamed the "Grey Ghost" becuase they never died! Geoff had the motor gone over and painted as well! The greatest gift is his friendship and the time we spend together.
Here is "Ethel Mae!"

Don she is just beautiful!!!! What a wonderful piece of Maytag history you have there. I am sure that you guys had a great day together as well which is just as important as the machine. Terry

Holly crap guys - the Grey Ghost lives on! The machine looks just beautiful Don, and it looks as though you and Geoff got it back together just in time for one load.

I can only imagine how much fun you guys had this weekend. Wish I was there -

Hi Don! Your wringer washer is stunning...just like it rolled off the line! You look so happy with it. You ARE the Maytag Man....forget that other guy. Thanks for sharing via the pictures.

Don,you need to Stop!!!in the name of love. Before you break My Heart.Think it oover---think it oover.LOL Beautiful job in restoring that.I at one time had 2 of them. Both worked great but the arm on one was locked or frozen in the agitate position.

Great pics. The washer looks beautiful!

A few years ago, I had the honor of meeting Mary Wilson in person. (she's the blonde on the right) She autographed a poster for me and was as kind and gracious as could be; a real class act!

Well ... that was a WONDERFUL time on Saturday; thanks again, Don!! :-) Don, Scott and Miss Ellie are extremely gracious hosts; always making someone feel very welcome, indeed. PLUS we had a wonderful "fall" luncheon (because of the weather) that we enjoyed on vintage Bob-White patterned Red Wing dishes; how fun!!

As far as the Supremes go, I think Don is better suited to be a member. I think he could stand in stiletto pumps longer than I could!! :-) Can you imagine what the dressing room was like after they finished getting ready? With all the back combing and Aqua Net in the air, one wouldn't dare light a match ... BOOM!

I am also so glad that Don really likes his Model A from January 1933; it's good to see another collector enjoy a machine like that ... imagine, 75 years old and still running solidly!! What's fortunate is that Don got one that was in pretty good condition mechanically. Replacing parts and gaskets can be difficult; most of it is no longer available.

Enjoy your Maytag, Don! Don't forget ... no more heavy loads in her; we wouldn't want a spring in the wringer head to break!! Oh ... don't forget to use your pickle bucket!! :-)

Oh boy, Don ... very tempting!! :-) I'm a sucker for good bar-b-que!

What does your 90 look like? Any pictures?

I was so thrilled about getting all of that done on Saturday that I had to drag my Model J down to the basement from the garage and wash in it. It's been in storage all winter, so I had to let her warm up and she purred like a kitten!
