Hi,
I am looking for pictures, catalogues, videos, ads, etc of INDESIT washing machines from the 50, 60, 70, 80 and 90s..
It would be cool if you guys can put here something from Indesit...
These bring back memories!! These machines were so quiet!! on par with my modern day Miele!! Although the spin was slow, i used to love the way it would spin the wash water out with no draining first.
No, they really WERE that quiet! The non electronic ones of the 70's would tumble with a very slight hum, but if on a boil wash, it was virtually silent.
I had at least 4 different people i knew by these indesits after seeing mine in action based on the very low noise level.
Then, in about 1980, the 1st electronic 800 indesit appeared and a friend of mine bought one thinking it would be like mine-BIG MISTAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Alas no! It really was a terrible machine-it made the hoover/hotpoints look like quiet machines in comparisson!
My friends only had it for about 2 years before they threw it out
The old indesit's of the 70's worked in a strange way. When you switched on, it would fill with water up to just below the door.It would then tumble for about 5 minutes taking in more water if needed and then stop. if you set in on a boil wash, it would stay stationary for over an hour until it reached the temp. Then ,when it started to tumble, you would get a big bout of steam come out of the soap drawer with the waft of whatever powder you were using...oh happy days!!!
