I would vot for the Farberware Open Hearth electric grill as well-Used to use one fairly regularly-when I lived in an apartment.I know I have the cooker somewhere-don't know if its lasted thru several moves-Are these still available?May be easier for me to buy a new one.Yes I feel the machine should have a switch somewhere on it-the unplugging and plugging in wears out outlets and the power cord-as well as the heat element.Burns the connectors on the element end of the cord and the element.Remember having to go to the appliance parts store in silver spring MD to get cords, and elements.Otherwise the machine worked really well.to clean up-just throw the parts into a dishwasher except the element. And some kind of varible control for the heating would be good.I have a yard sale cooker -"Maverick" that I bought a a yard sale that is sort of similar to the Farberware but has varible heat and a switch. Its a nice alternative.I never used the rotesserie for the Farberware-always remember buying the ones that didn't have it.I always cooked flat peices of meat so I didn't need it.
