Industrial indesit interesting

Hi just spotted this "semi" industrial indesit dishwasher on ebay it looks great, old style door handle and what looks like a folding door arrangment to compensate for the 3 racks, not sure if then it is taller than normal, but i think this would be usefull in many households, a "bob load" plus me thinks! Anyone seen them or got any info!

ps going to contact seller to get model numbers etc as rinse aid like the one i need so will see if new ones can be bought from indesit.

Interesting. I think it's older than they are making out - particularly as Indesit haven't been using that logo for at least 6 years, so if it is ex-display, then it's been displayed for an awfully long time!

Must be a bit taller than normal by the looks of it.

Looking at the badge and the style of the dial it has got to be a pre 1991 model so I'd say its going to be 15 yrs old at least if not a bit more.

That particular era of Indesit (yes, early nineties is about right) dishwashers were darn good dishwashers IMO

When I was doing voluntary work (1980's) at the gay community center we bought a used Indesit dishwasher from the seventies. We installed it in the kitchen and soon after we started it up the woman from next door (detached house!) came over to ask if we were drilling in her wall....

My friend's mother had a similar machine in 1988, although it was a domestic version. It had exactly the same dial logo. It was the first D/W I had seen and was fascinated by it (managed to twist my mothers arm to get a Hotpoint one in 89).

I remember it was quite noisy compared to todays machines but they were pleased with it. Don't know how long it last though, as we lost touch.

My mums 1st dishwasher!

My mum had the domestic version of that machine in the black trim panel, and the small dial.

We got it in about 1987 maybe 86. it did about 8 years service which is about right.

It only had the usual 2 racks but it was a great cleaner although very noisy! in that machine mum used to use Finish Liquid lol. white residue all over the damn thing when it finally died.

The one and only Indesit appliance my mum has ever had thank god.
Dont think im going to get my Hotpoint Dishwasher back though, she just love the economy wash lol.

Hi Richard,
I had one of this dishwasher 36 years ago and it was a very good dishwasher. In the italian brochure you can see the size! It is a domestic dishwasher.....just for a "bob load" and more.....

That was a great machine

and back in the days when the powder was chlorinated, boy did you get some interesting smells coming through that vent on the top of the fascia!! I feel that hot dirty chlorinated water absolutely STINKS, and would always run at least one prewash when using such a detergent

I seem to remember the top tray spray arm was operated by the water shooting upwards from the centre of the bottom spray arm. Usually the water shot down from the top into a funnel on the top tray. I don't know if this affected performance.

I believe that at the time this was one of the cheaper dishwashers you could buy. However, it had quite a few programmes on that little dial.

Nick, yes I used to remember that smell. I used open the door quickly sometimes to see it all working.

And what to say about the steam coming through the vent after heating for the last rinse? Too nice and hot!
Or smell of the things that burn over the heating during drying

I saw that machine on market right like you said in the first 90's...

Of course is not an undercounter DW (those I like better), as it's 110cm tall...

Very interesting the folding-door, I mean pulling the handle you make the lower part bending down and the upper one stayd vertically.

I remember the second model either, not because I saw it in a shop but because I saw it to a friend of mum's house...very interesting (and allow me to say incredible goodlooking!) the perfect integrability with sink! It remebers me those models of the US dishwashers of the 50's, specially the TL ones...those calle all-in-one sink-DW...

I think those solution would be MORE taken the advantage of! Adding a fridge and a gas/electric range with some cabinets you made a complete kitchen!!!
Now this is only considered a middle-way to have a DW...neither a completetly built-in DW (often inculded in a full-accessoried kitchen), neither a common free-standing ones could achieve the same results...I mean then the problem is the price of the sink!!! Look at the link...
