Inglis Liberator washer & dryer

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

This a 1979 model. The last year for medal handles on the lid for Inglis washers were in 1979. 1979 was also the first year for Inglis washers control panel cycles were imprinted (rather than on a dial skirt).

Older Inglis Dryers

The Inglis Liberator Dryer with the dial skirt is 1976-78 series. In storage I have a few of late 70's and early 80' Inglis brochures...I just need to find time to go through my boxes and I can scan them all. I am sure I have the brochures for this particular model.

Those were great designs. Those washers were also the first models to have the plastic tub ring and quick connect Singer timers.

Just seems like yesterday I remembered the transition from from the oldstyle control panel to new style modern control panels.....it was in about the same time for the 1981 Maytag's washers changed their center dial to the 200 series, modern looking control panel....

Pictures and Graphics on Control Panels - Triva in Canada..

Here is a little triva about Inglis Canada (Whirlpool Canada)...

Many washers and dryers (for that matter all major Inglis appliances) had dial skirts because it was easier to changed the dial skirt to French or to English (being that Canada is bilingual) You may noticed that the control panel on that model uses bilingual and pictures (English only is on the dial skirt - visa versa for the french dial skirt)....

The later part of 70's about 1979...when universal pictures/graphics where used in lieu of words...this way only one style control panels were produced....

i wonder when inglis/whirlpool stop making push to start was

i was wondering when inglis/ whirlpool stop making push to start model washers and switch to the pull to start desing because the first washer my grandmother add was an inglis liberator but the model was a push to start washer and switch to apull to start model around the time my grandfather died?

Push to start / pull to stop

Interesting question....my guess was about the mid to late 60's for the Inglis. Canadian Kenmore washers kept the push to start and pull stop timers...to about mid to late 70's..(maybe the change occur when the timers became the quick disconnect)

I think Inglis changed it later part of 60's.

Memories

I remember our old Inglis set. It had a black Whirlpool agitator, brush filter, and suds saver. It also had a loud pump that was well heard when the water was emptied out. The dryer was a belt-and-pulley drive, and the exhaust vent could be heard down the street.
