Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

That's a BD Whirlpool washer

I cannot see the brand name, but I am sure this is an Inglis washer from the late 60s to mid 70s You can tell this is an Inglis because the front of the cabinet is smooth whereas Whirlpools of this time period still had the indentation across the front just below the top.

These were Whirlpool built machines that were sold in Canada.

Have a good one,
James

it looks exactly like the Inglis Liberator we used to have in the 70's. Same brown color on the control panel. I know it well because I spent my saturdays looking in it as it was washing. Pale blue or white surgilator inside, with the brush lint filter on the side of the tub opening.

good memories.

I might have the original pamphlet on that modelsomewhere in storage! I believe it may be the Liberator Series (no second rinse and self cleaning filter). From looking at the picture, might be around 1974 (mid 70’s). If it has a plastic tub ring, closer to the later part of 70’s. That model appears to have the Singer timer and belt drive. YES all Inglis appliances are manufactured by Whirlpool.

Inglis was actually a separate company at that time - Whirlpool did not manufacture for them. Inglis had it's own manufacturing facilities in Canada.

Whirlpool had purchased a 33% ownership in Inglis in 1969, increasing it to over 50% in 1985, 71% in 1987. Because of this relationship, Inglis built machines based on the Whirlpool designs & platform (prior to the acquistions, Inglis still purchased the designs). In 2001, Inglis Limited was renamed Whirlpool Canada.

Whirlpool USA began badging entry level appliances as Inglis for Best Buy in the US over the past few years as I understand.
