Hey ya'll...

I found three very interesting dryers today that I thought I'd write about here. If anyone is interested, I'll go back and get some pics (wish I had my camera with me) and get a purchase price (I should not promise that they're available but I'm guessing they are). I'll be glad to haul them to my home or storage and you can come get them, or whatever.

FIRST - a 1966 Lady K dryer in Coppertone. The machine was BEAUTIFUL. I was stunned at its overall condition. It has not been outside long at all - still has the "Sears Best" sticker on the left top, just like in the catalog. I know this one is electric.

SECOND - a 1967-68 Kenmore 70 dryer, also in Coppertone. It looks nice too, but had some other parts, etc. on top and was right next to a refrigerator. I could not inspect further.

THIRD - a mid 60s white Whirlpool dryer (I don't know as much about these as Kenmores). It has the little rectangular control box (vertical, not sloped) on the left side. Machine looks mint too but I could inspect even less of that one.

If anyone is interested, I can arrange to get pictures in the next day or two. I am going to contact the shop (they were closed when I was there) but we'd better act soon. If there is one thing I've learned, that is to get the stuff while you can...when I putzed around and finally went back for something, it was often gone, damaged or parted out already.

Please let me know if there's any interest, and I'll see what I can do. :-)

Gordon - that Lady K dryer is just beautiful! Sears had such a great shade of coppertone on the earlier machines. Very pleasant to look at and accents the panel quite well. Would be a cool machine to save as I see you had the matching washer in white.

Agreed

Ben - I do have the matching washer. That is one I'm hoping someone will appreciate, but a white/coppertone hybrid set is better than no set at all, isn't it? lol

I have to meet the owner of that place later this week to do some bargaining. We'll see what I can get.

GORGEOUS!!

I have always loved that model of Lady K.
that Model 70 Dryer is the exact same model AND COLOR of kenmore I grew up with, with the matching washer too! WOW, what memories!
Thank you!

Rich

Model 70 Dryer

Growing up, a friend of mine had the washer that matched that in white. It was a 1968 model paired with the Match All dryer from that year.

Have a good one,
James

just like the other one in another thread on here...

that WP is very close to the one that runematic is offering up for - free. Mechanically, very similar to my Imperial, the same size control box - without the window or ultraviolet lamp. Same '5 cycles'...
These are GREAT dryers for towels - we use ours on 'Super' speed and W-N-W heat setting, using only High for heavy items like rugs. Capacity is not like today's uber-sized 7.0 cf but we have no problem with drying like items separately. Usually it takes no more time than dumping in all at once and there are less wrinkles to iron out.
