This kitchen is up for grabs in Cincinnati. I am posting here because of its design and not because it is a formal sale.

The ranges are identical. They are Sears Kenmores, but they are gas with self-cleaning ovens. I don't know when the first gas self-cleaners showed up, but these are the earliest I've ever seen. They also both feature thermostatically-controlled stovetop burners. Are these Roper?

The cabinets for the sink are steel, the rest are not.

This is the same kitchen with the double-door GE fridge. The fridge is spoken for, but everything else (except the lights) is available.

Anyone interested?

Dave

Those are the first Roper gas self-cleaners where the products of the burner combustion did not pass through the oven cavity, but rather around it. Note how the chambers are sealed, like an electric oven. Those stoves are in remarkably good shape for their age or any age. I wonder if they replaced an old commercial stove. Those are still drilled port burners and in two sizes.

Note the deluxe Farberware Turbo Oven on the shelf below the TV.

Cool Kitchen

I sugest to customers often if they think they need an $8000 trophy range that they just consider getting two regular ranges instead.

Yes these are Roper built Gas ranges and they came out around 1967, they were the worlds first Gas Self-Cleaning oven ranges.

As Tom mentioned they were interesting because they heated the oven from the outside of the liner for both baking and cleaning. Doing this made the range less efficient, but it did keep the inside of the liner from getting as corroded from the combustion gases and moisture as regular gas ranges. It basically cooked like an electric oven [ and the combustion gases did not condense on your casserole ].

One of the bad things about these ranges was the broiler was still below the oven and this messy area did not get the help of the SCOs operation.

Dave if one of these ranges becomes available I would like to buy it for the museum.
