"Sanitary" for an ironer surface, though IIRC, the actual base of these units *may* be some sort of metal with just the cabinet made of wood.

Ironrite came out with several non-metal cabinet designs, including some that look like Danish "high end" furniture of the 1950's (Hi-Fi cabinets to me).

Don't confuse the clothes presser for the Hi-Fi!Also liked those "Hi-fi" Danish type cabinets.Could they have used some sort of Melamine or Formica surfaces the laundry would rest on?

Looks just like my old Ironrite. Under the wood hood, the rest of the machine is painted metal in a spatter tone finish. Clothing and such would not be touching any of the wood. The legs are wooden as well.
