Well, I didn't used to beleive in one, but there must be....

On Friday night when we got to the house in Ogden, we had a surprise waiting for us. Hubby was sure this one of my schemes to fill the house in Ogden - I plead innocent!

It's an early 50s Moffat and a style that I have always liked! It's a compact model, probably originally used in an apartment, then moved to someone's summer cabin on one of the lakes in the Magog-Orford-Ogden area...

One element is toast for sure - this explains the tape over one control switch... LOL

I have always loved the Moffat oven control - I know on the larger 40-inch models, it would light up. Haven't dared plug this one in yet...

Oven is not too bad - the broil element is an open-coil one, so I would guess the bake element is the same, under the cover.

It's a bit dirty but definitely restorable!

The mystery remains as to how the heck it got there... As of Sunday evening when we returned to Montreal, the 'usual suspects' proclaimed their innoncence. I have a couple more calls to make... Stay tuned...

I honestly don't know what to do with it, though. I am seriously out of room (stand by for a thread on machines I need to find new homes for in Imperial!) and well, it's not turquoise... LOL

That's an interesting little range! I've never seen anything quite like the multi-tiered balancing act going on with the backsplash/console. But Lord love a duck, I am mystified at how you guys can look at an old, highly-blemished appliance and see a potential gem. You truly have a gift.

: )

Hey Paul

I had and used that stove for a few years. Everything was the same, except, mine had solid elements. It was built like a tank. The oven thermostat does indeed light up and then turn off when preheated. The oven elements are open coil. Watch your back when moving this solid beast!

I'll have to see what you are parting with...havent had a new toy in ages!

My grandmother had a stove very similiar to this one, minus the clock. What was the little switch for on the front of the stove near the bottom? I remember playing with it but it didn't do anything. I don't think there was a light in the oven?

I've not attempted any electrical testing, but I think the switch may be for the light for the range top. If I have a chance this weekend, I'll try and check that out...

Still haven't found out who 'donated' this to me either... Very odd...

Of course, should anyone have oh, I don't know, a turquoise WCI-58 to drop off on our driveway, I wouldn't say no... LOL
