My Dad wants me to  replace the 4 fans that are outside on the wrap around porch. He had a electrician come and replace the fans and well the new  Hunter Wind-bound fans suck .

They wobble like crazy and hum and they won't last a year I can tell.

We have Hunter , Casablanca fans and Emerson fans all in the house and they are always silent   and on high blow papers off of the desks. The two Hunters we have are Original fans and they have been there sense the house was built 50 years ago.

He was replacing 4 Fasco Charleston fans that have been out there forever and in the spring and summer never stop running. There 40 years old though  and have a bearing issues in them.

The Hunter Wind-Bound are supposed to be one of the better fans but nope.

Emerson Fans were always the best with that Stack motor like what was in the Fasco and my  Casablanca Panama Fans I have.

Emerson is out of Business and Casablanca has succumbed to being Cheap it looks like but still charge a Ton for there fans. They don't make Fans with the XLP Motor anymore everything has gone to spinner motors.

I told him before he started this to buy 4 Hunter Original Fans before he started this but he wanted something different, I think there good looking fans even today.

I was wondering is there another brand that makes quality fans?

I was going to do that when I get up there but the humming is bad really bad..  Dad sent me a video and I have never heard ceiling fans hum that bad..They all hum but two of them are off the charts.... Those fans were 250 bucks each, and he was told that these were better fans than others and I like the way they look they remind me of Emerson Blender fans I remember seeing at Walt Disney world and Six flags growing up .

Following; We were thinking of getting one for our back veranda. As it is now we use a Lasko box fan but its a minor nuisance with the cord placement and while it creates a good breeze it's somewhat noisy over speed 1. Next door have one which the Mourning Doves seem attracted to for nest building purposes lol.

I just checked Hunter Windbound reviews for the fun of it

and they have EXCELLENT reviews..
More like rave reviews actually..
Sounds like you got bad ones or there is another problem.
No reviews mentions hum or any other problems for that matter..

I contemplated putting a ceiling fan without a light and using my single light switch to turn it on and off or maybe replacing with a dimmer switch to make it variable-speed, and since I seldom need my room fully illuminated with an overhead light, would just make do with a few lamps I have placed here and there...

However, I learned that the fan would not cool the room which between rooms is a bit sweltering in the spring and summer months, so being occupied or left unoccupied would not do much good for my goods, like my records and CD's which might benefit from a climate-controlled storage for the longevity of the paper, cardboard, and other sorts of packaging, wouldn't make a difference,.,

Besides I have a very nice overhead light I have no other ceiling in any other room to really put it...

I Ordered four Gulf Coast Fans Radiance fans they are the most powerful fans you can get now.

I did not know Dans Fan city was still around. I remember that place when I was young.

The fans are a little more traditional than I wanted , I got those Hunter Fans cause they reminded me of those white Emerson fans I saw as a young kid at Walt Disney world in the 80s that was in every ride waiting area.

Those gulf Coast fans are power house monsters about 8000 CF of air..
