Hey gang ~

Was looking at a few auctions before dinner this evening and I ran across this one. Very strange auction - but it appears there is a James dishwasher for sale in this two piece auction.

The seller indicated that the stove/oven was a 'hot-point' but is branded "UNIVERSAL". They mention that the dishwasher has not been used since 1967 - and that is about all they say. Take a look - maybe of interest to someone in MI?

Universal ranges, except for some later built-ins used to be gas. Hotpoint ranges, when brand names meant something, were electric. The front of the dishwasher, partly visible at the right, has the white porcelain front panel and chrome handle that matched the oven door of a Universal gas range. This rolled into the space next to the oven; very convenient if what you were preparing on the left two burners went suddenly to hell; just pull out the James, throw the disaster in and either start it washing or roll it back to hide the mess. The heat from the oven and the burners probably did not do the rubber components any good, although after using the oven, the dishwsher would be pre-heated and draw less heat from the wash water.
