I work at O'Reilly Auto Parts, and as such, I receive a fairly nice discount.  But every once in awhile, not so much.  Today I needed to pick up oil and a filter for my 2008 Chrysler Town & Country.  I use Valvoline 5W-30 High Mileage oil because I have over 130,000 miles on it.  We are currently running a sale on it, so I figured now was the time to get some.  WRONG!  I happened to look at the Wal-Mart flyer and discovered they're selling a 5qt jug for $16.97/reg. price=$17.90 w/tax.  We're selling it at $26.95 on sale.  With my discount+tax it came to $28.92.  My store manager had no choice but to honor the lower price because it's a local competitor.  Watch those prices guys & gals!

I rarely buy at Napa, Auto Zone, O'Reilly... I've always found them much more expensive. Only when I don't have a choice. Same with Ace Hardware unless it's something on special.

I'm all for supporting the little guy, but not when it takes 50% more of my dollars to do it.

Me too .....

I never buy from O'Reilly, Napa, et al. The only reason I ever go to O'Reilly is they are the only place in town that still turns brake rotors when I do my brake jobs.
