Watch what you grease on turntables. Not everything needs greasing. It's best to use grease only on the changer mechanism and lightweight oil on other parts.
You'd probably do that changer good by using Isopropyl alcohol to clean off all the old grease and lubricants and applying new.

I've never seen a cartridge like that before. Too bad it wasn't a standard 1/2 inch mount. Then you could mount just about any cartridge in there.

I always thought that stereo console manufacturers always cheaped out on the cartridges and did pretty well with the rest of the electronics.

good news I found a seller on ebay needledaddy that is going to rebuild the old one.. I think I know how.

I took it and gave at a super close look and seen I was about right. This cartridge is glued to the Headshell. This made me think of a bsr I seen one time the cartridge was just a plug in type. Well looking online I found that type.

By him doning this I will save money he only wants 18 bucks and will come with a 78 lp needle. Paying 80 bucks for this would be a joke since it is about the same Cartridge as the ones in my link.

On doing the greasing what type is best. There is one plastic gear and I know fr4om projectors some grease is not used on plastic. The part I did Grease wqas two metal bars under the plater. They had old grease on them so cleaned it off.

I don't understand a lot of the things you mention but I have two, one upstairs & down & love the sound. I only have records & neither of mine will play anything else. I had to have the one worked on as sometimes no sound would come out of the speaker on one side, the serviceman sprayed in some cleaner & now works fine.

When I greased the TT in my Mothers Magnavox-first noted what parts the grease was used originally-then greased those again-after cleaning off the old-usually it was the metal-on metal parts.The plastic I left alone.the plastic parts in TT's is self lubricating-putting grease on that will do more harm than good.Greased her TT every year when I visited.The TT was in a Tubed Concert Grand Hi-fi console and the heat from the tubes in the amplifiers cooked the grease dry.The TT was mounted over them.I so miss that set-had such a nice smooth sound.Was a high end one for its time-the speakers were BiAmped!Thats something you see on very Hi end Hi Fi now.Had to replace tubes in her unit and clean the switch contacts so you don't get scratchy sounds or channel dropouts.

If you have idler wheel drive you could put a drop or two of oil in the middle hole where it mounts on the motor. You could also put some lightweight oil in the motor. That should keep you up and running for years to come.

And if your idler wheel has a flat spot from being left engaged too long there are places that will rebuild your idler wheel for a reasonable price.

Idler wheel looks like new and is not dry at all. I think this unit pulls tit away from the pulley and platter when not in use turn off.

Odd part is the cartage. I have read so much online and not read about anyone else with this freaking odd part. lol Makes me wonder why would they use this type when there where so any other types.

Can not find any date on this thing. Only thing I found was the turntable info. Info on amp and such turned up no date at all.

Something you can try for flats on idler wheel tires before replacing them-put the TT in 78 RPM speed and just let it run for awhile-this irons out most Flats in idler tires.This works well in broadcast and professional TT's worth a try in Hi-Fi console ones too.I have done this a lot for radio station TT's where the DJ left it in gear.In changers the unit shifts out of gear when it shuts off at the end of a record stack.

Got the audio rca ports fixed. I was going to glue them but would not hold. The board there on is to brittle.

So took heavy rca audio cable ran then inside the unit and out where the power cord come out on the bottom. Then hooked a cd dvd player to it sounds great with cd's.

Was going to put the cd player under the turntable unit since there is room. But the cables where in the way when the shelf was pushed into the unit for the door to close.

But found out the bottom under the table well holds a few lp's.

Can not wait to hear this turntable run. I have a force gage so well check the gram of the needle before I play it with the new one.

I loved Magnavox console stereos and the way the bass notes make the windows shake. I had a Magnavox in a designer cabinet and loved it. I'm glad you are restoring this one. Its truly beautiful.

Mix your so right. I have heard a few sears and wards I own a wards also but it is going to the land filed. It has a broke top and being pressed card board wood whatever it is lol I am not going to save it. Also a bsr 4 speed turntable and 8 tack. But the sound is nothing like the magnavox.

Also being 70;s magnavox I gave it a test with a reel to reel deck. Never heard such good sound from a deck before. Beach boys were jamming and the door was shacking.

So far I have not turned it up pass 2 this thing has some sound. On 2 I can hear it outside. Also looking into the unit I think the caps have been replaced. This guy I got it from his dad ran a tv repair shop. So he had 3 of these all the same. From what I can tell this one was not used much. Tape deck clean in like new. Turntable shows no wear. Only broke needle. Also shipping bolt still on table back of case to keep it from sliding out in shipping. Wonder if this was a display in the shop.

Would like to replace power cord but could not fig out how it is hook to the unit. It is non polarized. But I never keep items at this age hooked to power when not in use. Cord is fine I gave it the bend twist test.

Would like to replace 8 track belt it is like new. Only thing not sure where to look for this belt.

Also replaced the two rubber bumpers that stop the table from sliding out to far. The old ones where hard as rocks.

Only other waiting on the mail for the new needle and pick up sucks.

Only odd thing about magnavox is the power switch on off is right but auto only works with turntable not 8 track. I know for fact they made 8 track decks that would turn off on last program.

I also have a Electrohome CIRCA 711 with 4 speed bsr mini table. I will never get ride of it. I have never played a recored on the table but did set the gram weight and all that good stuff. Also tage for speeds is missing round chrome disk thing. I say it fell off years ago. No 45 adapter but most of my 45's are small hole type.

Top is like new. Funny thing when I got it would not turn on. Found out it has a pull power switch. Frlt like a dork over that.

The speakers need replacing since someone done a hack surrounds replacement. Was not me or was it oh I will not say.

Problem not up on what ohm and size the speakers where on these. It is small but they do sound good.

The unit also has tape input and output all hook up's are under the stand.
