Wow - it looks like you guys had great luck with the Maytag Super-Highlander washer, I'm glad it worked on the first try. That ABC is just beautiful! Have you tried the dryer yet?
This machine is designed much like the early Maytag before the Halo of Heat models. The heater element is on the left upper corner of the machine and the lint filter is on the bottom right of the machine. Surprisingly, it has a drum light but not a Sun-E-Day lamp :~( The dryer drum is perforated.
It took about 15 minutes to dry the towels. Even though it wasn't a real full load, I thought for sure they would take much longer as the similar Maytags would have taken at least an hour to dry this many towels!
As soon as I get the chance, I will tear the washer completely apart and completely restore it. Believe it or not, the boots are perfect but the hoses from the tub to the pump, and pump to outlet, need to be replaced. Greg, HELP ME!!! It will need some kind of bearring as the agitator knocks when it spins and there is some play in it. I will also have to add a flourescent light so the COMPLETE control panels light up. Each control has two 15w bayonet style bulbs, but I think it would be much cooler to have it completely lit. The dryer appears to have been hardly used at all. No lint build up, no rust, no corrosion and it runs almost silently. Really a perfect machine. Of course I will have them both repainted....soon as I get the chance. Gyro!....we missed you!
It's not often that I comment on the washers, as I am a range man myself, but I love that Philco! The "Contour Fill" is fabulous, and that control panel looks like too much fun!
Great to have a few people over for a wash-in. Especially when you have such beauties to use. I love that ABC-O-Matic set. Thank you for sharing the pictures.
Mark,

Peter
Wow guys, looks like y'all had fun!!! That Philco is nothing short of spectacular with the lighted, multicolor control panel....love the wide lid and "Contour-Fill" as well!! The Highlander's wringer-gyratator action looks like fun to watch, and a Frigidaire Unimatic is an imporant "staple" of anyone's collection!
Who can forget about how GORGEOUS those pink ABC's are!! I'm sure you'll have the washer running in no time and it looks like you're off to a good start with the mechanism...always a good sign when the tub boot is good!
I"m shaking, drivviling, and "ver-ke;pf". Is there such a thing as laundry room so high one can go split level and have washers upsteairs and downstairs in the room? OY. Beautiful Mark.
Mark, what can one say, that ABC O Matic is just beautiful. I love those lights and can't wait to see it when you add the full width console one. Can't believe that drying time either. Sure looks like you all had a great time. Thanks so much for sharing with us. Terry
Mark those machines are just BEAUTIFUL! Wow, and great pictures too. Finally we get to see that Philco washer too, I love the ContourFlow Fill Flume. The knocking in the ABC might be caused by the Damper Assembly which may need adjusting or disassembly.
I'm Pink with envy! What an excellent day you each had. That wharehouse is like a dream come true. Wow!
Thanks for sharing your pics.
