I could not believe Mark and Gary's collections, the washers and dryers, stereos, Ranges, cars, just incredible!! I want to thank you for your wonderful hospitality! I felt so welcome, Hans, Robert, Mark and Gary and I were running between the running machines and the ABC project. I got to see in person finally the super quiet and strong 56 Fridigdare, the Kelvinator, Philco, an 1-18, and the Maytag all run. I was able to see the Flairs, the wonderful Westinghouse (I love Lucy range, just too much to list...
We went out for a great dinner, again thanks to Gary for that too! I am sure I am forgetting things, but I just wanted to thank you all for a GREAT weekend!

Those ABC's are super cool. The dryer controls are unusual to say the least. I love the idea that the drum light stays on through the entire cycle.

That Philco periodically turns up as a P.O.D. and I've always wondered what each button was for. (Especially since the typical Philco had rotary controls.) I always thought that Philco produced some of the handsomest machines ever built and this one is no exception. I can't wait to see the pics. Mark, would it be to much to ask if you could share pics of the matching dryer too?

1966 Philco Custom Imperial

The washer buttons in order from left are: Cotton, Bright Colors, Wash'n Wear, Special, Warm Soak, Cold Soak, Extra Rinse, and one other that I can't see. Water level has Small and Large, with three dots between that either indicates five levels total, or more likely it's variable. The timer has settings for Double Wash (Soak) that leads into Regular Wash.

The dryer has buttons for Regular Fabric, Wash'n Wear, Dryer Off (possibly for use with a drying rack?), and probably Delicate Fabric. The timer has selections for Auto Dry (Damp, Normal, Extra), Time Dry, and Air Fluff. Interestingly, it has a Speed Selector knob for Low Air (130 CFM), High Air (170 CFM), and Reverse Tumble which alternates between the two blower speeds and changes tumble direction every 4.5 minutes.

I noticed the dryer can be set up for 110 OR 220 volts. Did anybody other than Westinghouse do this, too?

Most dryers can be wired for 110 or 220v. Of course the 110v takes a looooooooooong time to dry! Even some modern dryers can be wired for 110v. Mark
