In order to raise funds to help offset some of the costs of running automaticwasher.org I've decided to create and sell another full cycle DVD.  It's been four years since my last DVD that many of you remember showcasing the 1966 Western-Auto Wizard (as we lovingly call it "the pig").  <br
The reason it has been a quite a while since I did this is because its such a pain to set up the lighting, film them, edit the video properly, copy the disks and mail them out.  This time I'm going to try something new, using a professional DVD Copy and Fulfillment company to do all of the back end work.  If this works out well it will be incentive for me to do new DVDs more often.  I get so many requests to make DVDs of some of my machines because the video and sound quality is so much better and so much more lifelike as opposed to a short internet video. Watching a cycle on a television set or on a computer monitor from a high quality DVD also allows us to present the entire cycle from start to finish without having to break it down to a 10 minute or less video of just the highlights <br
So if you would like to see a vintage 70s Wards Signature washer run and would like a DVD click the link below to take you to the information page about how to order The Montgomery Ward Show

Gotta have one! Deciding whether to use PayPal or plan B...

I think it would be completely brilliant to show this and the Wizard (go Franklin!!) as a double feature at a drive-in movie. We could show vintage washer commercials instead of a cartoon before the feature films.

Excellent - now we can experience a Wards/Norge of this era without having to actually own one! (sorry Hans ;-)

I remember the night we found this, "Go back - it's a Norge!" We actually weighed out twenty pounds of laundry and crammed it into the washer. It was able to turn over the load, once or twice, but it was fun to try...

This is a great way to support the website too - certainly a worthwhile investment in an institution we all enjoy every day!

What is this movie rated?? Exposed knobs, erect lid, agitator in motion, fluids flowing, motors humming.... Is this like washing machine porn? LOL Must make a purchase.

Robert, i still enjoy my Wizard video. What a great idea, you did a fabulous job on the Wizard vid, I am glad that you have decided to "hire out" some of the work/process involved in makings the DVD's. I will be purchasing one. Sometimes a washer vid is very calming after a hectic day. Best of Luck with your endeavour. I hope everyone that can participate does. I check out this site EVERY DAY, and i am very happy that there is a way that we can make a contribution toward the expense of this great web site. arthur

Thanks, Robert

I've never used PayPal till now.

Robert, you're a great Webmaster. I'll look forward to your Academy Award winning performance.

Thanks for the work you do for the website and for the club. The new pictures that are coming up are wonderful -- especially the Easy Combination. I've seen only 2 of those in my life -- and never got to use one.

Thanks again.

Thanks everyone for your continued support, I hope you all enjoy my latest DVD creation. The Wards really thrashes those poor towels around, with all that sheer violence this film certainly can't be rated 'G' lol.

My aunt down in Florida had one of these in harvest gold in her garage. I used to love to get to see this machine run when I was a kid. She was the only one I knew who had one of these.

What a great idea Robert!

Now that you've decided to farm it out to a Pro DVD Copy and Fulfillment company, have you considered re-releasing the Wizard washer video, or any others previously done, for those of us who were not around AW.org 4 years ago? Also, do you have any plans to create DVD's for other machines in the near future or beyond?

Hi Kevin, yes if everything goes well with this company and there are no major headaches it would be great fun to re-release the "Wizard - Pig" DVD as well as make some new ones. I was thinking the Pulsamatic would be a good candidate as well as the Kelvinator and the '61 GE. Out of sheer curiosity out of all of my machines what would be of interest?

Again that is all based on how this goes with this fulfillment company which is located here in the Twin Cities. Also for those who have ordered let me know what you think of the packaging/shipping and DVD when you get it. I ordered two test shipments and both were very good, they did take about five business to receive it.

Hi Robert,

Yes I'd vote for the Pulsamatic and definately the Kelvinator. But I would be REALLY interested in the Whirlpool combo washer/dryer, especially if you did the "full tour" like the you do in the Wards video! Figuring out a way light the interior w/o over lighting the exterior may be tricky, however.

Wasn't there a video to be made at one time that was to have the bonus of the coin op Frigidaire washer with it's 12 minute complete cycle?

Done! Ordering through PayPal (and I do not have a PayPal account) was super-simple. Visa cards only, as far as I could tell---which wasn't a problem since I have both Visa and MasterCard cards.

Looking forward to receiving it!

I don't remember that Peter, but it sounds like something that I might have wanted to do. It was an 18 minute cycle, talk about short attention span theater lol.

Oh I found the old posts for the Wizard DVD...

Hey Robert, for the next DVD, of the ones you metioned the 61 GE would get my vote. Of course there are several machines in your collection I hope you eventually do a video of like the 49 AMP.

Thanks everyone, I do appreciate everyone's support. Louis I think you are going to really enjoy seeing this machine, have you ever seen a Norge or Wards machine like this operating? If you have I would assume it would have been on one of your trips to the US. If nothing else you should be able to play that DVD in your computer and make it full screen if you don't have a north American DVD player.

Hey Robert...

Maybe you should construct an email to be sent to all members....there's a lot out there that don't check AW on a regular basis and I would hate if they missed this chance and didn't know about it....

This is a great thought and would like to see many more like it....my prefernce would be a solid tub Speed Queen, and I know I would be upset if I missed thread...just a thought

A Norge can be entertaining, to say the least. The agitator has an action similar to that of a GE Filter Flo, except it only spits out water through the top and into the pan on the back stroke. That's why we call it the "burpilator". A Norge makes a sound all its own, sort of a moan with each agitator stroke. Then, there's that unmistakable "shotgun" stop. You open the lid while it's spinning, and BANG!! It's totally frozen stopped the very millisecond the strike leaves the lid switch. Startling. But what's really amazing is it works all the same after you close it again!

There aren't too many of the old Norges left. Most have had a hard life. And when something broke, they were simply replaced rather than fixed.

Thanks Robert, I will be buying one soon, I hope the link will be here.
My vote for others in the future is...

1. Apex !
2. The very first Frigidare 1947 washer, love the white tub and big holes never seen that one wash before.
3.And the Frigidare that has a really fast pumping action then the rest of the models.
4. Can't wait, can't wait so excited to see.......THE SUPER UNIMATIC IN ALL IT'S GLORY! YAA I THINK THAT SHOULD BE FIRST... I DID NOT HAVE MY COFFE YET LOL TAKE CARE AND THANKS.

Just Ordered mine.

Very happy to donate to the club. When I was a child I took apart a Frigidaire which was exactly the one like you have. I believe it the Oldest One in you collection (1947 ?) I would love to see that machine run. Thanks, Eddie
