Okay, the ghosts, witches, and all that sort of stuff to me are great entertainment, but aren't really all that scarey. So here are a few things that will frighten the shorts off of me. What are some of the things that give you the shivers?
Jellyfish. OUCH Sharks don't scare me, but these graceful, but painful little buggers certainly do!
Fire: Well, under the right circustances, fire is useful, out of control however, the thought of my home or someone (or anybodys for that matter) buring up is pretty serious stuff.
Wobbily, rickety scaffolding, and other above ground support: I'm not really afraid of heights that much, and I will crawl around all day on lighting trusses and other overhead equipment. BUT if that stuff starts shaking, swaying or vibrating, I'm off of it RIGHT AWAY!!!
Unemployment: I really enjoy my job, and it's also nice that I get paid for it. I cannot stand to see someone work hard for what they are, and then loose everything. I've got some savings, but I'd rather keep it, and besides, I hate going through the interview process and all that crap again!
Big storms: Many of you all can probably relate to this living in Florida or Louisana. We had Hurricane Isabel a few years ago, which was an F1. We had over 78% of the state without power, trees down. Luckily the loss of life and home was not too big. Still, the sideways rain and all the splitting trees around me were frightening... That was stuff that could really harm you! If that was a free sample of what a storm will do, I don't want no more than that! I got my hurricane thrill ride, that was enough!
Drivers / driving: 37,000 people were killed on the road last year. While most people are afraid to fly, I'm that way about driving. This thought goes through my mind whenever I turn the key. Especially when I encounter one of the many people out there that just don't care about being safe behind the wheel.
Divorce: I am not married now, although I am seeing someone. I cannot fathom the heartache and hurt that someone can suffer having their beloved children taken away from them, and then being forced to only throw their hard-earned money at them yet not even being able to see them. I'm a man, and men typically get the short end of the stick in a marriage breakup, loosing kids, loosing a home, loosing everything that one works for in life...literally being put out on the street with nothing but the clothes on your back not because of a random force, but at the hand of another person!
