Rob, you sure have your work cut out for you! Althought I love the idea of being able to wash the carpet in a big machine! I would do that if I could.

I have chickens trying to get into the house all the time and when they do they tend to poo on the entrance carpet, I bought a steamer for this reason!

I do love the machine, I love the fact that the lights look like they are plastic with a bulb behind them, it looks retro rather than having everything on a LCD display, or just a single small LED as an indicator.

So how are you finding the steam function - is it one of theose machines that says you do not have to iron the clothes when they come out? Does it work?

If I could give up the ironing I would be SO HAPPY!!!!!!

Hi Paul! - I say your creda in the pics!

Although I love it, I did have problems at first.

Basically you know how for hand washing it has a rinse function, you can put in the dirty clothes, spin to get dirty water out then add half a bucket of clean water, spind this through the clothes to rinse them.

Basically something went wrong and all the water came out of the bottom of the machine!

Seems fine now thought and had a bad experience in Comet since they would not exchange it nor beleive me there was a problem!

Never will shop there again!

The Credas made now are nothing on what they used to be in the 70's wish they still had that quality!

But all being said I would still not be without it.

Agree with you on the towles, jeans too, they all dry over night so it makes a big difference!

Comet

Hi John.

Comet are the worst offenders for consumer care according to a Which Lawyer.

To cut a long story short. I bought a Bosch Maxx 5 washing machine from Comet. After 5 months the machine broke down. I phoned Bosch and was told to phone Comet as they do all repairs on Bosch machines. It took Comet Engineers 2 weeks to repair my machine and all what was wrong with it was a door interlock.

I decided to engage a Which Lawyer who gave me all consumer advice. In the end I received a phone call from Comets head office saying if the machine breaks down again I have to ring Comets head office and they would come up with a solution. Also, when I spoke to Comet service team I was told that 2 weeks is quite normal to wait for a repair.

I was also told that Comet have a deal with Bosch. Comet buy all their machines from Bosch at a reduced price and in return Comet Engineers repair Bosch machines for them.

The Which Lawyer also told me "under the sales of goods act of 1979", you have 6 years to deal with any appliance problems, that is something i did not know.

Would never shop in Comet again.

Paul

I would never buy from Comet again ANYTHING!

I bought a DVD player from there, an expensive one in fact in 2001, it broke 3 months in and had been used only for 2 DVD's!

I went in and asked for an exchange since it had literally never been used - I went to university and never took it with me, so literally it had been turned on twice.

They said they would not replace only replair so it went off for 2 weeks and came back.

Still being at Uni again it was used maybe 3 more times before going wrong again.

Then bought my spin dryer which flooded after a month, again no replacement, it had to be "Tested" by the engineer, and he found nothing wrong with it, so would not do anything.

Thenmy Mum bought a mixer from there, took it home and found that it made a loud rattling sound when she first used it - like something was loose inside.

She was told that she could not have a refund the next day as it had been used, and if she wanted to exchange it she had to pay a 10 percent restocking fee!

She read them the law and got her money back!

There are so many complaints against Comet, its a terrible place to shop. Its a shame since they have some great products and a really good selection.

I browse only now, and try things in their store but buy elsewhere or online.

They are stupid since over the years I have spent a lot there, TV, XBOX's etc came from there but never again since I am scared if anything goes wrong the bad service I will get.

I buy from John Lewes or Amazon now, both have amazing returns polcies and good prices.

Also both ASDA and ARGOS are good to buy from with great customer services and returns policies.

You are right about UK consumer law, things to have several years on them, the good old EU gave us that, since they decreed that a washing machine / appliance should last a reasonable amount of time!
