but it could be a bit bigger. I was getting so dismayed by all the stuff I have all over the place that this afternoon I said to myself it's time to get started organizing. Well this is my computer room, actually a spare bedroom on the main floor. It was jammed halfway up with boxes, junk and a huge office desk and credenza. I could hardly get in anymore so I drug it all out, disassembled the office furniture which weighed a ton and gave it to my neighbors. Washed down the walls, threw the drapes in the wash and started bringing in my stuff. It looks like I'm going to have to install some wall shelves because I have lots more small appliances that won't fit on the ledge going round the room. It's a start anyways but I'm thinking before I go too far I maybe ought to paint the room because things show up better against painted walls than white walls.

Interesting old floor light

I thought it was a new modern lamp when I bought it about 20+ years ago but actually it's from 1936 there abouts. Nice chrome, brushed aluminum and original red paint..you can't quite see but there's 3 chrome stars on the base plate as well. it adjusts up and down on the pole. It was made by the Light Sight Co. in Conn.

Looks great Pete!

The entire lower level of my house is "Hooverland" rooms on this level are what should be my family room and 3rd bedroom.

Painting now makes sense too. 2 years ago I had a minor flood and the Hoover Room had to be emptied, so that room got painted. My 3rd bedroom is what I call the "choir" room, all my Singer uprights live in there, as well as all the non-Hoover stuff, plus thats the room where I do all the restoration work. 3 1/2 years ago when I moved in I peeled a border off the wall in that room and vowed to paint. Today that room is pretty full, and still not painted. Even the glow-in-the-dark butterflies from the room's previous occupant(a little girl) are still on the ceiling.
Paint now, or it will never be done.
Those appliances will multiply like bunnies!

Great Start!

I admire your energy to take on such an endeavor and complete it in a day!
What color are you going to paint the walls?

Great room Pete

I agree with you about the shelves. Another idea might be to get a really cool vintage shelving unit that goes against the wall to vertically show/store the small items...a high shelf with a raised lip on the front edge is another idea. Even your vacuums could go on a shelf if you wanted, allowing you to have a vintage hi fi (I know I can't stop thinking of hi fi's), TV, Radio, or other "floor" item that really can't be shelved. I saw someone else's display with the raised vacs, tilted slightly forward, and it was nice.

They look great lined up too. It looks like a nice room just to go in and study the various items. On that note, I think you posted on this but I don't remember...what is the green very squared off vac in the middle on the left wall? I like it.

Wow

A whole room for appliances. Heaven! And how cool that it has a ledge all around it.

Love those "I Dream Of Jeannie" bottles, too!

P.S. I'd match that Oster blender against my Dyson any day!
Old Bag #1

Pete you have a wonderful start on your play room. It will be great to have everything in one spot. Seems too like you will be more likely to use things if you can find them.LOL Do the painting now, you won't be sorry. Terry

I'll have to decide on a paint color now I guess. LOL. Anyone want to do the taping? I don't mind painting but the taping is the part I hate. As you could see the room is pretty small but does have a mini walk in closet with some crowded shelves already that may need to be emptied out before any collection spills over into the family room or 2nd bedroom down here. I can always take my computer and its desk out as well to gain some more floor space in here.

Kevin..that green vac is a 75 Kenmore which I bought new back then. My first ever vac actually. Has every feature known to vacuumdom, self-propelled, attachment port, headlight, 2 speed suction motor buttons, 3 propelling speeds, check bag indicator, belt view window, cord rewind. Still working though the cord rewind needs fixing and bags are no long available, I can rig some similar ones to it. Panasonic made them for Sears.

trust me, you'll need more room, you'll always need more room. I can attest to that. But, isn't it nice to have everything in one place? Looks good, by the way.

Painting party...........

Have your friends over for a "painting party". Provide all the supplies and food/drink and believe me, you will have more than enough people to finish that room. Maybe you could even send them to other rooms in your house!

The Kenmore was made by Whirlpool

Pete,
That Kenmore is a definate keeper, very collectible in my opinion.
It was in its time the only other clean air upright available aside from the Hoover Dial-A-Matic.
If you have the self propelled "Powerease" model, thats the top of the line!

Panasonic

...self propelled...all those buttons, my mind is swimming.

Now that I think about it, I think one of my old friends moms had one years back, and we were checking out the self propelling mechanism. Very distant memory. This would have been 1976, which fits in that time frame. Hers was brown. Funny how the mind works, I just remembered that.

Very cool.

Jeff when I was at Sears parts/repair depot a couple of months ago looking for the now non existant bags and they dug out the micro fiche on it, it was listed as made by Matsushita Japan (Panasonic) ? Yup, it's got the Power Ease too and the faded sticker saying Sears Best
