sorry

I can't believe someone would go out of their way to lift and/or carry something so heavy and both of them no less, that is pathetic. Do you need to fence in the front yard to now ? Sorry for the loss Rick .........

Re: Terrible Times:

Hi! Rick, I'm so sorry to hear and see about your Lions being taken. I know what it is like from a long-past Break-In at one of my houses. They got to know my pattern of when I was home and when I was gone, daily and Robbed my house 3-times, before I was able to do enough Security later on around the house.

It is terrible having our Privacy Invaded and out Belongings taken from us, especially such items that are Sentimental and not able to be replaced, as I had many items taken of such from my house of that time.

I hope that you have good luck with getting this matter taken care of and hopefully get your Lions back.

Peace and Hugs, Steve

at least the lions were not always here...

As you can see from these two photos from the 1930's and the late 1940's. Mom found the lions in the 1980's.They were not original to this house. And that is one thing that has made me realize that this could have been worse. When I think of the people that have lost everything on the gulf coast, what do I have to complain about? Not much.

The theft happened in the middle of the night,I am sure it was planned and they must have had a truck right out front. The guy across the street does landscape work on the side in the area so he will keep an eye out for them. Will contact Antiques Weekly, and send photos. I have no close ups though. The police were called, but did not come to the house. I have to call a special phone # Monday to report the theft. Have insurance of course, will call them Monday also. Do not have much hope of recovering these, however they will be replaced when I find suitable replacements.

Do not like the fact that my home was "cased" and at least two people were waiting and watching for the right moment to do this though. Makes me feel violated and a bit uneasy.

Thank you for the wonderful support, comments, and suggestions everyone. This is a wonderful community here. Too bad we can't all live together! (:

*Those are things you just don't see ANYWHERE*.

.......and to expand upon what Ben said (above)
Those are things you just don't see (JUST) ANYWHERE.

Here is a pic of lions guarding the property and welcoming one to the mid-Manhattan ("main branch") of the New York Public Library @ 42nd Street and 5th Avenue. Sorry I could not find a larger pic.

How cool is it that the set-up is VERY similar to yours! I know these were a lovely, classy and loving addition to a great stately home. My wish for you is that some-way some-how they WILL come back to you.

So sorry to hear about this

DO you happen to have a College or University nearby? That seems like a frat prank type thing to me.. it would have taken several people, just wondering if it was something they might have done. It does make you worry about someone casing the place, be sure the house and cars are locked up! Time for a big loud barking dog!

Rick, contact the local newspaper as well. Someone may have seen the crooks or pranksters and knows something. Most town newspapers would run a story asking for their return. They may have even been dumped on someone's property. At least town folks would have their eyes open. Lots of luck,
Bobby in Boston
