Magic Chef

Magic Chef was originaly a division of American Stove Works. They never made any washers of their own and were bought out by Fedders back in the early 70's.Then,Fedders bought Norge from Borg Warner.Soooooo,Norge, not Magic Chef made the JennAir.

Ultra Wash and Magic Chef

Yes the Ultra Wash button is a wonder. Once you push that button it automatically sets everything, which is great. It sets the Wash temp at warm throughout and then advances to wash.

Magic Chef bought Norge, which I understand this is a Norge design, however while living in Southern Il pre Maytag, we referred to it as Magic Chef in Herrin, therefore my reference to it as being Magic Chef. I worked at Walmart with the wives of 2 engineers for Magic Chef/Maytag. So I got to see all of the prototypes they brough home. Techincally it was made in 1996 so it would be a MAYTAG.

A Norge is a Norge is a Norge no matter who owns them. They didn't change that much mechanicaly untill the older style tub brake was changed. Then the tub was changed from porcelain on steel to painted steel.

Magic Chef and Maytag

My Wife and I almost bought a very similar Magic Chef set in 1995. The salesman said Magic Chef was owned by Maycor who owned Maytag as well. I often wonder if we would have liked them and if they would have given good service. The capacity seemed so much larger than the standard sized '91 GE Filter-Flo set that we had back then.

Capacity CITY

Yes indeed you can wash alot in it. It used a lot of water as well. But the ultra wash is great for dirty shop rags.
