Hi everyone.
My name is Eddie and I live on Cape Cod in Massachusetts. I was wondering if anyone knows where I might start looking for Washers and Dishwashers(Especially Top Loading Portables) from 1946 and up to around 1967. I'm interested in KitchenAid,GE, and anyother makes. As far as Washers, Fridgidaire,SpeedQueen,ABC,Maytag etc. The old Westinghouse Twins are among my favorites too. Any suggestions where to look would be greatly appreciated. Eddie

Welcome !

Hi Eddie,
I have not been 'on the boards' for very long myself, but keep checking the posts - the community post excellent leads to items for sale on eBay or Craigslist or other classified ads. I just picked up an early 60's GE Mobil-Maid that got posted on the Discuss-O-Mat.
Other than that, luck is a big part of it - hitting estate sales, yard sales and flea markets seems to work.
What can drive you nuts is when the exact item you want is up for sale on the other end of the planet... I would love to get a turquoise washer/dryer set but they seem to be very rare on the east coast. But head out to Washington state or California...
Anyway, welcome aboard and happy hunting!
PS - cool that we picked the same GE dishwasher wallpaper!!

Welcome, Eddie!
The Cape is a goldmine for old stuff- keep a watch in the junk stores, thrift shops and local appliance stores. You wouldn't believe what people trade in. The dumps are also great places to look. Ask the local appliance dealers if you can poke thru the trade-in stuff occasionally. Brewster is a great town for finding stuff. Keep your eyes open, and look in the local papers for estate sales, too. Good luck!
