Just like Grandma's Linoleum !!

I recently bought some "Marmoleum" and re-floored my laundry with it. The stuff is totally enviro friendly - and made just like the original Linoleum stuff - (with linseed oil and wood dust)
It smells just like the old floor at Grandmas ! and has the perfect look to complete a restored 20's to 50's interior. They carry all of the original retro patterns.

Marmoleum is fab! It is almost exactly like the old timers had in their kithens. It wears like iron, is totally green, and comes in more colors than you can shake a stick at! Love it! It is also now sold at some ACE hardware stores.

This is good stuff . . .

I used it in my bathroom and love it. It's much warmer to your feet than ceramic tile, doesn't have grout joints to get dirty, and has a nice texture unlike vinyl tiles. Be forwarned though that linoleum isn't as tough as vinyl, and it will telegraph any imperfections in the subfloor underneath.

Interesting how it anti-yellows ("whitens") in the sun and artifcial light. [Amerbring].
Ineresting how the fact that it brittles over time is listed as a positive. ["Increase in durability".]
Dees the color go all the way through uniformly such that wear will not look/be obviously apparent?

And yes, my yiayia's (granny's) oil-cloth [the precursor of linoleum] lasted for a number of decades, and was indestructible. IIRC a nice quarter-round moulding kept the edges/corners from curling up.

My favourite floor finish...

There is a factory of this stuff close to Amsterdam. You can't miss it because of the smell of boiled linseed oil.

As linseed oil is a main ingredient, linoleum is not resistant to strong alkaline cleaners. The linseed oil will saponify over time making the surface dull and rough. It is also not suitable in environments where prolonged exposure to moisture is to be expected.
