Just perc'd up a pot of coffee in this copper Westbend percolator that I found sitting in a storage room in one of the older seldom used areas of the building at my church
here in Knoxville, Tennessee. Cleaned/washed it and put it to work. Thought I would post a photo of it - my wife is the coffee drinker and she said it tasted great!

Don't know how old it is but it works perfectly. The handle and base is bakelite - dark brown color.

Hey Randy

Glad to see ya back…..do you suppose you might be able to make a video of your 1963 Kenmore washer’s gentle cycle…I would love to see the agitate and spin portions of those cycles…it would bring back such great memories of my moms 1963 model 70…PAT COFFEY

Will do Pat......

I've not run it this winter so don't know how it will respond - it's not been restored yet but planning on it at some point. It's a bit cold in the garage right now but when the weather breaks later I'll make a point to do the vid. You've had the extreme cold just like we have had here in Knoxville - more on the way next week. Prob see temps
approach -10 deg.F on Tue and Wed mornings. Already been in the -1 to -5 three or four times this month.

Randy,

I have that same style of pot and mine has a date stamp on the bottom from 7/1957.  My pot is chrome/silver in color.  The date stamp on mine is on the right side, underneath where it says to always use cold water.

i have that coffee pot as well….

It makes the best perked coffee out of all in my collection. A little slower than a Presto or Farberware however the coffee is always so smooth and balanced. Even my partner likes this one the best and not being a collector or into vintage anything that says a lot!

Tim - I checked the date........

Date on the West Bend percolator is showing 4/1960 - 53 years old and works like new! It's actually an aluminum pot made to look like copper (West Bend Aluminum Company) which really gives it a nice vintage look with the brown Bakelite base and handle. Very pleased to have found this little small appliance gem.

Mine came in a box lot I bought at an estate auction several years ago for only a few bucks.  Also got a fantastic Oster egg cooker as part of that lot.

West Bend "Copper"

West Bend was very heavily into that anodized "copper" finish for about ten years there. They made canister sets, breadboxes, paper goods dispensers, stovetop grease containers, bun warmers, salt and pepper shakers - you name it.

If you want other stuff in that finish, it's out there. You would be well advised to buy it only when you can inspect it in person - the copper finish can fade if not cared for properly.

I have a lot of West Bend aluminum - the canisters, etc. - but mine is all the silver finish. Nice, high quality stuff; you wouldn't be sorry you bought it.
