Just said my final goodbye to my dog, Tank....

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Oh Heather look at you willing to adopt a needy doggie!

I was a student in the south Bronx when I came across a blinded cat in a bodega (small local grocery/convenience store).

I melted as (s)he approached me!

My heart was in my mouth when I had seen what some b@$t%rd had done! I was able to adopt two cats over the years to save their lives. To this day, I prefer (read: have a weakness for) animals that are not perfect, but rather are perfectly lovable! Perhaps an animal that others would not keep around!

Truly truly I say unto you, you are blessed for your actions, lady!

I have seen a dog on Craigslist that has been posted, someone has taken him, realized they can't handle him, and back on Craigslist he goes. He is a deaf Great Dane, with one blue eye and one brown eye. He is also all white.

While my heart was on the floor with wanting him from the first time I saw him, the more I thought about it, the more I realized that it would not work for my family. He is HUGE and it would be tight getting him the the car with the kids & our stuff if we go anywhere. Also, we have an acre of land that is not fenced. Since he is deaf, it would be very hard to make sure that he was always closeby (without getting a small pen and keeping him in there, which I can't condone).

I hate that he is being bounced around though and if I can help another doggie from that same fate, then I will.

My sympathies as well, Heather. I went through it a few short years ago. It's tough now, but it'll get better. Just hang in there and memories are a wonderful, if not sometimes painful, thing.

Four-footed people are the nicest.

I agree, there times when animals are a lot nicer than humans. I had to have my cat Tabitha put to sleep several years ago, and it was one of the most difficult things I have ever done. I fear that I will have to do it again in the near future with her sister Ashley. Just remember all the love and good times.

Getting a foster dog tomorrow!

A new doggie will be in our house tomorrow evening. A poor dog that was going to be gassed to death in North Carolina and was saved at the last minute and brought to Wisconsin. A lovely female beagle. I haven't seem her pic yet, know her name, nor do I know anything about her but I guess I will get a crash course tomorrow!

Got Sam instead.......

Sam's foster Mom had a medical emergency so I took Sam and the beagle went to someone with an apartment since she was smaller.

Sam is a red merle Aussie mix. He has beautiful eyes, with silver streaks in each eye. Knows how to sit, is starting to know fetch but is SUPER strong for a 36# dog and needs some leash manners!

Took him in the car to Petsmart today, he was really good except for when he saw a German Shephard, then he had to let out a bark and sort of lunge at him. I decided it was time to go!

I am sure he will find a home soon, he's so sweet!

Oh, Heather!

Sam is adorable. If he doesn't try to eat the children, I think you all should just keep him! (That is one reason why I don't foster. My landlord is the other.)

Good luck with this adventure.

Eat the children........hee hee!

Lawrence-He just licks them and wants to be where my daughter is all the time. He loves her. :) He has never been around kids that we know of (in foster care anyway) and he's great. We took him for a walk this afternoon when the kids got off the bus and he was thrilled.

Also took him to Petsmart and everyone there loved him. Slightly agressive to a german shepherd but great with all people.

I would think about keeping him but he really needs a fenced in yard to play and roam in and we have 1 acre, not cheap to fence in! Also, it seems like I am slightly allergic to him, my eyes are itchy. Have to remember to wash my hands more often not touch my face!

te he he he.

If you had gotten the female I was going to say "lucky bitch!"

oh and the dog has it good too (ducks and runs)!

When the rght one comes along, you'll know!

Hey now!

I know I am a lucky b*tch, in everything in life! Family, friends, etc. ;-)

Off to the dog park......wish me luck!

Hey Heather. I can't help but love that image of Tank. May I be so bold as to say perhaps you can make it your Avatar?

:-)

Updated with the B & W focal version of this photo. I had this one enlarged and framed for my entryway.

Thanks Toggle for reminding me to add a photo. No one wants to see my ugly mug anyway. :-)
