lovely

That's a lovely find..gorgeous metal top design and a beautiful bowl! Health to enjoy.
I have a Kenwood 'Chef' 901(hope that's not a swear word 'round here!) that will whisk a quantity of egg whites to 'very stiff' in 70 seconds.....race ya!!:)

wow

I have never been able to whisk my egg whites to 'very stiff' in as short as 70 seconds....

This harkens back a few posts to my feelings of inferiority about my equipment. :-I

beauty!

Damn Gary you have the best Kitchenaid luck!!!

I am totally jealous!!

congrats on a great find for sure!!

Kitchenaid 4-C

Kitchenaid mixers were once sold door to door. The 3 and 3-B were the "slip them into something cheaper" if they wouldn't buy the 4. Later it morphed into the 3-C which looked like this one but had a three quart bowl. The 4-C was a breakthrough with the extra capacity, wider base and bigger whip. No mixer, ever made on the planet is as easy to use or creams butter and sugar as easily or completely as the 4-C. I always wished Kitchenaid would make an all purpose whisk/beater for the bigger machines. To get optimum results in baking you need to cream with a whisk and then clean it off and change to the paddle for dry ingredients.
The glass bowl for the Kitchenaid is VERY RARE and worth a small fortune. These go for as high as 130.00 on Evilbay. The glass bowl will also work on a Classic and the Ultra for a retro deco look.
It would be great if a manufacturer would reissue the glass bowl.
Just makes you want to beat and cream, doesn't it, Gary ?!?

Oh Kelly,

You know just the right things to say to get a stir(Blush)

Actually, a dear friend spotted this mixer the day before, and told me about it. Yes, we made the journey back to the Salvation Army and snatched that one away quickly.

Washing your Hands

If you use the Soft Start feature and make sure to use slow speed before raising the beater, you should not have any need to wash your hands.

Gary, excellent find! I have a 3-C in white and LOVE it; I have been convinced that there is no better mixer in the world for batters than a 50's KitchenAid. Absolutely no scraping necessary; the beater in conjunction with the narrow-base bowl gets it all!
