Oh, Roger...

You are too Funny.

Hey Paul... I picked up the Electra for you... Can you grab this Portable 18 for me ???

Only if Roger doesn't want it. (Who wouldn't ???)

That's a Beauty. I hope you can get it Roger. BTW, How are you ? I'm going to start cleaning the Twins up today.

Eddie, I'd be happy to pick this up for you if Roger doesn't get it first! The only hiccup is that I will be without any kind of vehicle next week... Roger, please let me know (or have Phil let me know) if you're claiming this one.

I have internet access down in Ogden now, so I can check the board, messages and emails on the weekend - fire away!!

Not to worry Paul

How are you ?

Just a little Kibbitzing. However if no one seriously wants that, I'd be interested.

Paul, was it the Coppertone MM the machine you were interested in ? If so, and anything happens, I'll bring that up to you if the 18 is around.

We're long overdue for a Phone Chat. My Best to Chris and You.

Yes, I really would...

like it, I do really need a KA portable for camp, sold the Harvest Gold metal top one from Paul on CL last week, and my white KDC-17 is now in Josh's kitchen... there's no room in the tiny camp kitchen for a built-in, but it'll fit in the closet under the steps to the upstairs loft...perfect. If Phil is willing and able - I can't speak Francaise well enough, nor get up to VT until the end of Feb. Don't know if he's seen this thread, Paul - I lost Phil's phone # could you kindly shoot it to me via eMail?

Yes, it has been too long since we spoke hasn't it! I am still interested in that coppertone MM for sure - If you don't wind up getting the KDS18, it will be a nice excuse for me to head down to the cape.

well it may not be the 18 or portable..

But it is Kitchenaid dw "23 years old"

Newly listed today. Pic is not the greatest,

no response from Barco?

I'd love to get this as I've been lookng for a portable KA18 for awhile, unable to arrange pick-up as of yet, Phil has a very sick friend in hospital and no storage availability at present, so unless an alternative presents itself, may have to let it go :-(

Sorry for the lack of posting... I've been sick the last little while.

TwinTubber, it might actually happen. I'll let you know if/when it does.

Son a of.... It WAS $99 last weekend, and I'll swear to that on the manual of the GE WD562N1G washer/dryer.

Guess someone figured out there was competition for this machine!

I guess it will be available for a long time at this price! I'm wondering if the owner saw this thread or received any phone calls from members here?

OK, so here's the story. A day after posting this here, I decided to send an email reply in French on Kijiji to the seller to tell him that I was interested, figuring that it would already be sold and that I'd never hear back, and knowing even if I did hear back I wasn't in any position to go and get it. A few days later, I get a reply in my email from the seller saying there are a bunch of people interested in it, but he left me his phone number and wanted me to call him. Rather than do that, I replied to his email and apologized, saying that circumstances prevented me from buying the dishwasher... email sent, the end.

But the seller sends me another email, and says if it's not too personal to ask, why aren't you still interested? So I got back to him and told him that I was very interested, but I had no way of getting it to my place, so there was no point in trying to buy it. And in telling him how interested I was, I mentioned that his dishwasher was considered by many to be the best Kitchenaid out there, which I guess is why he raised the price in Kijiji. Again after sending this email, I'm thinking end of story.

But he mails me again: "listen, give me a shout when you can come get it... it still could be here," and mentions that he has a Subaru station wagon that it fits inside. Now I'm getting a bit anxious, like maybe there is a chance I can buy this. So I ask him if he'd be willing to drive it to me, or meet me part way, but he said he is an older gentleman and wouldn't be able to bring it out of the top floor of the duplex himself nor load it into the back of his wagon. Drat.

Well, as it turns out, I know some people with pickups, but then I thought that without making sure all of the water was drained out of it, or plumber's antifreeze was added to it, that the dishwasher would not survive the two hour drive back home in the back of a pickup at the current temperatures we are experiencing in the area (the night I went to pick it up it was between -15C and -20C, where -18C is around 0F for you Fahrenheit people). Then a stroke of luck... one of my family members has a Dodge Caliber crossover that they offered to loan me to make the drive in, so I emailed the seller and made the arrangements to go and pick it up.

This past Thursday late afternoon after my work I started to drive in, and made it after spending almost an hour delay on the Champlain bridge because of a stalled bus in the right hand lane. I get there, and I find out that the seller speaks perfect English, and shows me the dishwasher. So I asked him why it appeared to me like he was set on selling to me, even after I said I was no longer interested, and he told me that he just had a good feeling about me when I first contacted him, and that I wasn't somebody that was just going to buy it and then try to resell it for a profit. He also told me that he had got other calls from people offering more money, but refused them (and if that was people from this list, again I apologize).

So we take our time bringing it down two flights of stairs and around some tight corners (it's heavy, even when loaded on a fridge dolly!) and finally get it loaded up in the crossover. Then I pay him, and he insists on only taking the original $100 price! Wow-really nice guy.

So after we talked a bit longer in the cold outside, I was on my way home. Had an uneventful drive (traffic was cleared out by now), got home, unloaded the dishwasher and brought it into the house myself, returned the dolly, refueled the crossover and dropped it off, then drove my car home and picked up supper, arriving back home near 11:30pm.

Enough for now... more later, including some questions and a few pics.

Really Nice....

....When it turns out this way.

One of our St. Louis members recently tried to help me get a Singer Athena 2000 sewing machine I wanted very badly; they don't often turn up where I am (Waterloo, IA). He contacted the CL seller, who said he could not find the foot control, and would not consider offers.

Well, I wasn't about to purchase an electronic sewing machine untested at his asking price, so we urged him to find the foot control for testing. And waited. And waited.

We're still waiting. So, stories like yours are refreshing to hear.

Great story

I was almost waiting to hear, at the end, that he had to apologetically sell it to someone else. It's not typical, but glad you had a happy story ...good luck, hope any problems, if any in the future, are few..nice KA!
