Ok, so my Brother and I have spent most of the day working on his vintage Kelvinator top load washer. Seems the trunnion for the inner tub has completely broken into 2 peices, the upper portion is still fastened around the shaft, and the lower portion has broken off as a solid ring, and is resting below . (when it broke, it also sliced the boot open, lovely..) We cannot remove the 2 bolts holding the upper portion of the trunnion on. in fact, the heads broke off when he attempted to remove them. Any advice on removal? And any info on obtaining the parts needed? The trunnion appears identical to a frigidaire, not sure about the boot, havent got a look at it yet thanks to the stuck trunnion...

Well crud.. Any ideas on where to locate the parts? He really doesn't want to give up on it, and I'm encouraging this attitude, lol. It even has the bed of nails filter, and does such an awesome job washing, I would hate to see it scrapped..

KELVINATOR WASHER

It sounds like you have a newer KW of the WCI design. This is why if you or anyone is asking for advice on fixing something tell us age , model #s and pictures are the best. I usually do not waste time answering such vague questions as this but I tried . If it is a WCI [POS] built KW don't waste your time.

Unfortunately I forgot to write down the model number and such while at his place, I will get them from him tonight. Why would you say not to bother if it is a later model?

Model numbers help alot, but...

It would be best to take some pictures of the washer and the broken parts, we would be much more likey to be able to give you some accurate advice if we see exactly what you are referring to.
