Kenmore DD cabinet

Hello everyone! Hope everyone's new year is off to a good start.

I was just given a 22 year old Kenmore DD washer and dryer set. I have started working on the washer. During my test usage it shook all over on spin up and the cabinet seemed slightly loose. Last night I removed the cabinet, cleaned up the machine really well, removed all of the pet hair under the tub ring and outer tub buildup (yuck) I have a new pump on the way as this one is leaking. I put the cabinet back on and have the machine back together. I still have the bad shaking on spin. It is leveled left to right. the back sits slightly lower than the front but has the self leveling legs. When it starts shaking so bad I can open the lid, grab the cabinet and push it back about 1/4 of an inch and this helps the shaking signifgantly. I am pretty sure that i have the cabiet back onto all of its tabs, does anyone have any suggestions?

I also noticed that the front lip of the cabinet that goes under the base had a notch on each side of the front and a piece of yellow tape above each notch. When I picked the cabinet up to reattach it to the machine, this metal thing in the pic attached was on the floor under the front of the cabinet. What does this go to? Or is it just a spare part? I have'nt seen this mentioned on any of the research I have done about WP DD cabinet removal and replacement.

On the self leveling legs, the one I had would occasionally lean back. If you tilt it forward, until the legs extend, then set it back down it should right itself. Got a pic of the machines?

I ran across a tip recently to minimize cabinet rattling and vibration by slightly bending up the middle of the left- and right-side lower rails of the base and slightly bending down the middle of the front rail.  Can't say the effect, haven't tried it.

There are tabs that stick up along the frame on each side, usually one in the front and rear, and the body should sit flat against the base, and the rear seam flat as well, and once the top tabs are snapped down in place, it should be solid.....

sometimes the rear self levelers need some lubricant, and worked back and forth to loosen them up.....they can get stuck....

check for loose bolts along the top to body connection.....

I also wrap the outter tub unit with water heater insulation, extremely reduces noise, vibration, excess movement.....and helps keep the water hot....

leveling legs

I can lift the entire back end up and the rear legs extend fully and then I feel them go back in when I lower the machine back down so I think the leveling legs are working properly.

As far as the tabs, When i take the cabinet back off to replace the pump I will send a pic to make sure they are right and have not been bent or something. To me they look ok.

Dadoes - I might give that a try.

when you take the body off next time......look where the top/lid is connected to the body, just make sure the bolts are all there, and tight....usually about one in every corner

Odd to me that the dryer doesnt say what series it is. It looks to be an 80 series. Once I get the washer all fixed up I will start on the dryer. Supposedly it doesnt run. The story goes that the timer quit and then started again and then quit again. When the timer quit again the dryer failed to start.

dryer inside with some sort of spillage. My car is parked next to the dryer so it is hard to get pics of it. The door label is still in tact and looks unworn. The door springs however, do not feel like they are still attached.

dryer top half, end of pics. There are a few dents on top of the dryer that are not shown in this pic. It looks something like hail damage to a car. I am guessing from sitting a laundry basket or full detergent bottle on top

jaxsunst - re-reading your post. Are you saying the legs should not go all the way back in when I lift the rear up and set it back down? It has been so long since I have had a DD I can't remember how the legs worked.

Shaking seems worse when spinning on low speed than high.

water level adjustment

The water fulls to just below the second row of holes to the top. How hard is it to adjust this water level a tad. I would like to raise it to just below the top row of holes or maybe just above it.
