Our friend OldGeezer (eric) was kind enough to part with his beloved Kenmore set and I got it! Its very exciting! I was delighted to open the lid and find the very first detergent dispenser I've ever seen in person! Looking forward to restoring these and keeping them forever!

What is interesting to me is the original purchaser of these machines (not Eric) decided on the almost top of the line washer (might tol have been the digital ones?) and a what I'd guess is more of a bottom of the line dryer. Funny how people make their choices, sometimes its bottom of the line washer, tol dryer. Wonder why? Oh well, Thank you Eric!

Interesting.  I didn't know that detergent dispenser had carried over into the black panel models.

I can't see the cycles and options clearly enough on the console.  Does this machine have the "Soak & Wash" options?  That's where the detergent dispenser comes in handy.

IIRC, the cycle modifier on the left, gives the timer its marching orders prewash and or soak, advance to wash as well as the extra rinse options.  That is a very nice washer and it was high dollar for its time.
