I need help I have a kenmore dryer mid eighties model gas and I love it but last week the belt broke jammed up the motor and burnt the motor up. I bought a new motor and swapped it out snd new belt it runs but won’t heat did the burner continue to burn when motor jammed and burnt out a thermostat or what do you experts say ?

Best regards and Thanks in advance ,
Darren

Looks like your dryer is a 1977 model and before thermal fuses were installed. I would check the continuity of the high limit thermostat on the burner box on the back of the dryer.

Thermostat

I check and the high limit switch has continuity and I checked the other thermostats too they are ok. What do I check next ?

I’d check the wires that go from the motor to the burner circuit. Usually the burner on any gas dryer will turn off once the centrifugal switch opens so the burner didn’t continue to run at full force burning the thermostats up and burning the dryer up itself.

If there are no obvious wiring issues and all of the thermostats are closed you are going to have to move to more advanced troubleshooting which would involve reading and going through the wiring diagram and performing tests according to this.
