At the thrift store, I saw a nice looking Kenmore electric range. It was 40", black on front, and brushed chrome top. Two ovens below, four burners on top with griddle in middle. I think it had a fluorescent light across the back top. I don't think it was very though because it had an electronic digital clock and timer. It did not have electronic oven controls though, other than I guess the start and stop timer.

It said "Gourmet Edition by Kenmore" on the console.

Now that I think about it, it may be the same one in my 1991-92 Sears Big Book.

My neighbor Ruth had one of these Kelvinator based ranges, and she celebrated the day it was hauled out. It was in the house when they moved in, and she said she wished she had taken out her built-in GE oven and cooktop at the old house, and brought them along.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news..

But that thing has next to no insulation in it, you can turn the oven on to 400, and cook on the top about like a woodstove No joke, the oven door has NO insulation but air space, all the heat goes up under the top making it hot enough to burn you.
