A year ago I bought a late 50s Kenmore Ironer. After testing it (and it all worked correctly) I put it away until I could make space for it.

Three days ago I put it into its new home and discovered that the shoe would not even get warm. I fussed with the thermostats and got a trace of heat and nothing else at any setting. I'm hoping it's a dirty contact.

Before I take anything apart, does anybody have a manual for this machine or one with a similar shoe (note two thermostats for right/left shoe). Any pointers once I get in there. (I'll be checking for continuity as well as long as I've got it open.)

Thanks.

Bill

My vintage Frigidaire ironer has dual heat controls

Will see if have the repair manual somewhere.

Unless the heating elements themselves have died/been fried you are on the right track by testing for continuity. Vintage ironers are rather robust appliances that normally went for years without repairs required given proper use.
