Is a 1963 KM 800 series, It might have been carried over into 1964 ?

I always liked this machines styling.

This was the first KM washer I did a major repair on in a customers home. Sears had told her that it would cost over $100 to fix, so my Mom drove me over to her house and I took it all apart, the basket drive had stripped ears at the top of the shaft. I went by a local appliance dealer and took a BD out of a 1961 KM on the scrap pile and took the part over to the customers house and installed it, I think I charged her about $20 which was all profit as my Mom even drove me back and forth and didn't even charge me for gas.

This 63 KM lasted into the 80s and someone gave her an early 70s KM that finally replaced it.

After reviewing all the Kenmore machines,I am reminded no other laundry equipment had the character and 'come hither' bling of the late 50's-early 70's KM's!

Time frame was glorious for cars/anything mechanical really. When are we going back? :) (Our families '67 Pontiac Safari wagon,'67 KM LK set,and '64 Toro self-propelled are waiting patiently to thrill and amaze.)

Darren contact Kenny(goatfarmer) and I’m sure he’d be thrilled for you to come get those Kenmores. They are in South Bend, Indiana I believe .

I wish I lived closer to S. Bend. I'm picture this dream barn, filled with all kinds of retro appliances. Lucky you.

You could probably make a business of selling these appliances AS-IS. Specifically selling RETRO.

can be had

man I wish I lived closer but Arkansas is to far I had the exact pair my first house set and loved them real work horse! I love your collection,

Darren

The barn is full, a mix of retro, and newer things. But it would be a long road to try and make a business of selling vintage appliances. Lots of lookers, few takers.

I've offered a lot of items for FREE, come pick them up.

I still have them.....

This thread I offered a few machines for free. Look what was offered. I ended up parting the dishwasher to a member.  The others I still have.

Wow Jon they look great in your Laundry Room, The wood appliance accents and cabinets and floor look great together, you just need a home with more laundry rooms.

While there are lots of interesting Washers & Dryers out there it is easy to see how WP laundry products captured nearly 50% of the laundry market from around 1950 on and WP laundry is still the best selling in the US.

The BD washers worked great overall and you did not have to make excuses about cleaning, lint, sand, tangling or machines walking etc, owners would buy one after another, WP-KM had a much better loyalty and repurchase rate far higher than any other brand.

Jon you should call that friendly Sears service man dressed in his gray uniform for your annual preventive service heck-up and see what they think of you more than 40 YO W&Dstill working like new, LOL

Wood accents

John,

I was chatting with Jason a week or two ago about my lawn sprinkler collection. This past spring I lucked out and found several NOS Rainbird in-ground brass heads from 1974. I decided I wanted my sprinkler system to be more matching to my house which was built in early 1979. Now the same applies to the laundry room! Bringing my home back to its roots. I can’t tell you how nice it is to hear the belt-drive sounds within these walls.

By the way, I ran a very full load of mixed dark and white towels. Typically I’d find a little bit of dark lint on my white towels. Not this time. The towels were fluffier and completely lint-free with only a single rinse. Impressive!

1971 Portable Kenmore Washer

This precious 24" early 70's Kenmore gem is my backup washer. I rebuild the washer in 2017 (currently in storage)..tub was rusted and needed repairing. I replaced the spin tube shaft seals, spin tube assembly, belt, pump, drain hose, and lid switch. I also changed the agitator from straight vane to a gold roto swirl and agitator mounted fabric softener dispenser. I have several videos...need to post on Youtube.

My Kenmore, My New One!

My latest acquisition; 1983 model Kenmore 60 series 24", center-dial DD, made in April 1986. 110.81362150. Neutral drain, works great, with of course a few small anomalies here and there. Going to put it in service along with my 2000 Whirlpool DD here as soon as I can get my pumphouse rebuilt and equipped with plumbing and electrical.

Thank you for posting the pictures, DDFan92. My sister had (may possibly still have) that exact model in her guest house. I almost had to do a double take when first seeing it, as it was the first time I had seen the center dial control panel on a direct drive washer.

Have a good one,
James

Jon,

is that the original agitator cap on your '64? We had a '63, but it had the nubby scrubber cap. My mom had that machine 24 years. Family of 7 from 1967 on. My dad only did a few minor repairs. The clutch, spin tube, trans., all lasted that long.
He probaly would have rebuilt it too, but Sears gave every technictian a test pair with the new DD 80 in 88.

Vacerator

The machine appeared to be all original. The filter was missing but I found a Whirlpool NOS filter and housing that I installed. I believe the snubber agitator cap was included on the next model up which I believe was the Lady K. New bearings and seals installed making this the smoothest and quietest Kenmore I’ve ever witnessed.
