I don't know much about these, other than that they exist and seem like a wholesome idea.

How did these work? What were the cycle times and cycle sequences like? Where were the heaters for the water heating and drying located inside the machine? How fast did they spin? Are there any videos of the cycle?

I think more combos should have been offered and sold to the public. I like the idea of having everything in one machine.

Chet, Ephemera has 3 Kenmore Combo service manuals (1957, 1961, 1965) and one owners manual from 1960 that will answer many of your questions. Also, there are 4 different service manuals from Whirlpool there.

Incredible concept, though very complex.

Why did the machine rely on water circulation instead of standing water in the drum?

I wish these existed longer so they could have evolved more.

Well, Whirlpool probably did that as a differentiator and I think it performed very well!!! Kenmore entry level combos didn't have recirculation and tangled very badly.

Interesting. How does recirculation prevent tangles? Wouldn't reversing prevent tangles?
