Kenmore Visimatic spotted during the Great 66 LKM exchange...

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

As promised, a few pictures. Sorry, I'm experimenting with a new camera and didn't catch the fuzziness due to the window messing with the autofocus...

More of the wringer head (now inside the store). Sue, the official chariot of the 66 LKMs, looks on wondering if I'm about to add another orphan to her burden...

The agitator.

The salesman said that he didn't know why "That piece of junk was in the window other than to bring in people to share their stories...". I then asked "Well, how much for the 'piece of junk'?" Of course, the answer was that it wasn't for sale.

Yeah...

Don't you think they could have cleaned her up first? Poor old girl, she's probably embarrassed.

Piece of junk, indeed! (snort)

Holy the Bee Jee ziz

Was in the your Lady K thread, almost crying in the window: Dad, Dad, it looks like a Visimatic, but I've never seen one like that. Oh please take me in.

Had to leave for a sec. and when I came back this thread was visible and I gasped in gratitude. Thank you so much for doing this, Andrew, so very much!

Gonna guess that it's a 53 from the Agitator, and the the skirt is still half pants--ah, the men in charge ;-D-- And the control dial looks like Scott's 53.

But now I'm morphing into crazy Annie of Misery grilling Paul: Is that an agitate push button, or just style and design like Maytag's Automatic Washer non-button? Does the timer alone regulate agitation, and the motor runs all the time, simply stopping agitation the way it does on those rare timer Maytags? I don't see a "HOLD" setting.

That is one beautiful washer, Andy. I'd offer that the guy is really a closet wringer lover and that's why he won't sell, but if that were true, he'd probably have cleaned up her tub by now.

Maybe one of our historians can find some doctrine on what may very well be the first Visimatic.

Mixed up Year

The timer has black and gold graphics but the pump switch is blue like it was left over from the year before.

Andy

Can't you get our people down there in to call the local washer police and force him to align the wringers, put the hose in its holster (for God's sake, he's got it hanging off the wringer--sacrilege!), and clean up the tub?

Or maybe we could get Obama to order a stealth mission and rescue the Visimatic.

Hey, I'd go down there with you and we could play cat burglars. Either way, that old gal has to be liberated. Her glory is wasted on this poser.

Thanks again for capturing real washer Americana. I LOVED IT.

My father once told me, "You can buy anything, you just need to mention the right price."

I'm sure that if you started waving 100 bills around at the management, they'd probably take notice very quickly. :)

Or better yet, Offer them a trade.. that visimatic for another wringer washer which isn't as important in history.

Keith and while Andy's online

read this the other night and laughed, then had a bed time fantasy where a bunch of us Ninjas break into Sears, and the next day's news story is : Six crazy washer men were seen leaving a trashed Sears Store with an ancient White R2D2-like robot, its mangler snapping and its aluminum hooked tail sparking along the pavement. Frightened police were unable to apprehend them.

Now, that's a vision!

I can just imagine the popo standing there, chins a-dragging, while we trundle that sweet machine into the night.

I'm afraid I wouldn't make a very good Ninja. More like Madea, fleeing the ATL police. Let's just hope we get to appear in front of Judge Maybelline. LOL
